Hold the presses! Hell in a Handbag Productions announced today it will open its 15th season with the world premiere of LADY X - A MUSICAL, a shocking expose ripped from the headlines of yesteryear! LADY X will replace the previously announced musical VALLEY!, from April 21 - June 11, 2017 at Mary's Attic, 5400 N. Clark St. in Chicago.

BoHo Theatre begins its 2017 season with URINETOWN, Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis' satirical musical about corporate control, political greed, and the call of nature. In 2002, URINETOWN received Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score. The production is directed by BoHo Artistic Associate Stephen Schellhardt. Previously at BoHo, Schellhardt assistant directed last season's FUGITIVE SONGS and choreographed the critically-acclaimed DOGFIGHT (Jeff Award nomination).

Events and deals have been announced for Babes With Blades Theatre Company's 18th world premiere production, 180 Degree Rule, written by Chicago playwrights Barbara Lhota (playwright, The Double and BWBTC ensemble member) and the late M.E.H. Lewis, to be performed at City Lit Theatre, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., in Chicago. Previews will be Saturday, April 16, Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23 at 8PM and Sundays, April 17 and 24 at 3PM. The press opening is Monday, April 25 at 8PM, and the show will run Thursdays-Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3 from April 28 - May 21, plus Wednesdays May 11 and May 18 8pm.

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber present the first production in the third season of Chicago's smash "lost" musicals in staged concert series, Porchlight Revisits…BABES IN ARMS, featuring book by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, music by Rodgers and lyrics by Hart, with direction by Jess McLeod, music direction by Alex Newkirk and musical staging by James Beaudry. BABES IN ARMS is presented for three-nights-only through tonight, Oct. 8 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's SIDE SHOW (September 11 - October 25) on nights when there are no performances at Stage 773, 1225 W. Raven Theatre Sets 'SHERLOCK HOLMES' Cast, Creative Team

Michael Menendian, co-Artistic Director of Raven Theatre and co-author (with John Weagly) of the script, has announced Rachel Edwards Harvith will direct Raven's dramatization with music of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's only Sherlock Holmes mystery set around the holidays. The play, based on Conan Doyle's 'The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle', follows Holmes' investigation into the disappearance of a precious gem owned by a countess and its reappearance in the cooked holiday goose of an ordinary Londoner.

Circle Theatre Relaunches with New Artistic Team

CIRCLE THEATRE has announced a new artistic team as it prepares to launch into its first full season in over a year. Circle Theatre began in Oak Park, IL back in 1985 by Karen Skinner, Wayne Buidens and Joseph Bass, where it produced multiple world premieres and earned over 40 Joseph Jefferson Awards in its 28-year residency. After officially transitioning to the city proper in 2013 with the remount of its Jeff Award-winning When the Rain Stops Falling (director: John Gawlik), Circle Theatre produced two more musicals (Death Takes a Holiday and Edges) before taking a break from producing to re-group as an artistic ensemble.
