Arquette & Bening Open THE FEMALE OF THE SPECIES at Geffen Playhouse, 2/9

Annette Bening, who plays the famed feminist in playwright Joanna Murray-Smith's comedy The Female of the Species, will be sharing the Geffen Playhouse stage with a diverse group of acclaimed actors: David Arquette (Scream, Never Been Kissed), Tony Award nominee Mireille Enos (Big Love, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf on Broadway), Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), Julian Sands (A Room with a View, Boxing Helena) and Josh Stamberg (Drop Dead Diva). The production is helmed by Geffen Playhouse Artistic Director Randall Arney and begins in previews on February 2 with an official opening night of Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

On a cool and stormy evening (December 12, 2009), Mother Nature may have provided the lightning, but the Blind Boys of Alabama delivered the thunder, captivating the crowd at the Sheldon Concert Hall with an inspirational performance. For 70 years (since 1939) this group has entertained and excited crowds with their unique blend of gospel harmonies and rhythm and blues, and that gift was on display in full force on this occasion.

According to a report in whatsonstage.com, after performances on 'Later...with Jools Holland' and five star sell-out shows at The Roundhouse, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Edinburgh Fringe, Camille O'Sullivan will bring her acclaimed on-woman cabaret show, Dark Angel, to the West End from December 7-January 16, 2010. The show will make its West End debut at the Apollo Theatre.

Tickets are on sale now for The 12, the world premiere of a new musical from 100 Years of Broadway creator Neil Berg with a story by Pulitzer Prize playwright and author Robert Schenkkan. The musical that begins where Jesus Christ Superstar left off will debut on Thursday, April 1 at 8 p.m. in the in the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
