Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public's 2018-19 Season at their landmark home on 425 Lafayette Street. The iconic New York destination, which includes five theaters and Joe's Pub, as well as The Library restaurant, has been home to over 50 years of revolutionary theater, and continues this season with new work by Emerging Writers Group alum and 2017-18 Tow Foundation Playwright-in-Residence Patricia Ione Lloyd, Public Studio alumni Hansol Jung and Jordan E. Cooper, Master Writer Chair Suzan-Lori Parks, Conor McPherson, Simon Stephens, Nick Payne, Jane Anderson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Luis Alfaro, as well as the continuation of year-round and community engagement programming: Mobile Unit, Public Works, Under the Radar Festival, Public Studio, Public Forum, Public Shakespeare Initiative, Emerging Writers Group, and the beloved Free Shakespeare in the Park.

The 72nd Annual Tony Award Nominations will be announced tomorrow, May 1, from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The Tony Awards Administration Committee has been meeting all year to discuss the eligibility of the 2017-18 Broadway productions all leading up to Tuesdays big announcement... the Tony nominations.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on April 12 for the third time this season to decide the eligibility of Broadway productions for the American Theatre Wing's 2018 Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Committee will meet regularly throughout the 2017-2018 Broadway season to make eligibility determinations.

The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, revealed its feature film lineup championing the discovery of emerging voices and celebrating new work from established filmmaking talent. To close the Festival, Tribeca will World Premiere The Fourth Estate, from Oscar®-nominated director Liz Garbus, which follows The New York Times' coverage of the Trump administration's first year. The Centerpiece Gala will be the World Premiere of Drake Doremus' sci-fi romance Zoe starring Ewan McGregor, Lea Seydoux, Rashida Jones, and Theo James. The 2018 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 18-29.

A new film based on the play Journey's End has received a March 2, 2018 release date. The film will first open in New York and Los Angeles with a nationwide release to follow.

MARY SHELLEY, a film about an 18 year old author who penned one of the most iconic books of our time, Frankenstein, has just been picked up by IFC, as reported by Deadline.

The controversial drama '1984' has been eliciting a host of reactions from audience members throughout its Broadway run, and Friday night's performance appears to have been no exception.

Amidst reports of audience members fainting and vomiting during the new Broadway production of '1984', Page Six of the New York Post reports today that the show's star, Tom Sturridge, had to be taken out on a stretcher after collapsing during the show's intense torture scene.

In celebration of the headline-grabbing Broadway stage adaptation of George Orwell's dystopian novel 1984, as well as the novel's resurgence at the top of the best-seller lists, Penguin Random House gifted copies of the classic novel to the entire sold-out audience at a recent (9PM) performance.  Directly following the show's curtain call, audience members participated in a one-time-only photo-taken from the stage- at Broadway's newly restored Hudson Theatre. 

Intensity ensues every night at the Hudson Theatre, where the new stage adaptation of George Orwell's dystopian novel, 1984, is currently running. The play, which contains various graphic and disturbing scenes, has cause many audience members to become ill.

Adapted and directed by Icke and Macmillan, 1984 officially arrives in New York this evening on the heels of four wildly successful U.K. runs.
