LA's Promise, a nonprofit organization working to radically shift the education, health and social outcomes for youth in South Los Angeles, holds its 2011 Gala today at 6 p.m. at Hollywood's Kodak Theater, featuring an exclusive private screening of Cirque Du Soleil's first Los Angeles resident show, IRIS.

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA), a professional theater and arts education nonprofit organization that builds communities around the appreciation and production of Shakespeare, will present blockbuster film director Roland Emmerich and entertainment attorney and author Bert Fields with the Crystal Quill Award for their contributions to the Shakespeare authorship debate.

OUTFEST, the world's leading organization dedicated to showcasing, protecting and nurturing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film imagery and artistry, will honor director, producer and choreographer Adam Shankman as well as Lifetime Networks at the institution's annual Legacy Awards. This year's ceremony will be held at the Director's Guild of America on Thursday, October 20th and will be presented by Showtime.

BASE Entertainment (Co-CEO's Scott Zeiger and Brian Becker) announced that DINER, a new musical inspired by the critically acclaimed 1982 film, will come to Broadway in the fall of 2012. With a book by Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Barry Levinson and music & lyrics by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, DINER will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. DINER marks the Broadway debut of both Barry Levinson and Sheryl Crow. Prior to its Broadway bow, DINER will play a limited out of town engagement in a city TBD in the summer of 2012. Design team and casting will be announced at a later date.

Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical, ROCK OF AGES announced today that Jeremy Woodard will officially take over the role of 'Stacee Jaxx' on Monday, October 3, 2011. Woodard has understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. In addition to ROCK OF AGES, Woodard's theatre credits include Glory Days, Hairspray, and Miss Saigon. MiG Ayesa, who has performed the role of 'Stacee Jaxx' since ROCK OF AGES moved to the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, 2011, will play his final performance on Sunday, September 25. During the interim week, the role will be covered by an understudy.

The role of Gerado, the husband of Paulina Salas (Thandie Newton), will be played by Tom Goodman-Hill, and Doctor Roberto Miranda will be played by Anthony Calf in Ariel Dorfman's Olivier award-winning thriller Death and the Maiden.

When asked about the responses he gets from 'Potter' fans, he said, 'When I got to the airport in Japan at 13, there were 5,000 people screaming and waiting at arrivals... If I walk down the street there, there is just this kind of snowballing of people. I bumped into this girl in the corridor and said, ‘Oh, I'm sorry.' And boom! [She] just fainted immediately.'

Thandie Newton is set to star in Ariel Dorfman's play DEATH AND THE MAIDEN alongside Tom Goodman-Hill and Anthony Calf according to the Daily Mail. The production will be directed by Jeremy Herrin and begins performances at the Comedy Theatre on October 13.
