In celebration of the Tennessee Williams centennial, Westport Country Playhouse will stage Tennessee Williams' poetic, sensual and evocative drama, 'Suddenly Last Summer,' directed by Playhouse associate artistic director David Kennedy, playing August 23 - September 10.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and La Vie Productions present the new musical THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE - a musical comedy about first loves, youthful obsession, and the search for miracles - with music, lyrics and book by Tom Megan and Jack Megan, directed by Gabriel Barre ('The Wild Party'), and featuring a cast that includes some of Broadway's biggest, little, stars including: Kyle Brenn ('West Side Story'), Alison Jaye Horowitz ('Mary Poppins,' 'Sunday in the Park with George'), Matthew Gumley ('Elf,' 'Beauty and the Beast'), Leah Greenhaus ('Shrek The Musical'), Rachel Resheff ('The People in the Picture,' 'Billy Elliot'), etc. THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE is presented as part of the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival and will play at The Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46th Street) in Manhattan beginning September 26 - with only 6 performances available.

Set in the New Orleans' Garden District in 1935, 'Suddenly Last Summer' tells of a handsome poet who has died under mysterious circumstances.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's new play reading series - Lend Us Your Ears - continues with The Good Woman of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Eric Bentley. The one-night-only reading, featuring a cast of prominent actors, will take place on Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Shakespeare Theatre's Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students. Eric Rosen kicks off his second season as Kansas City Rep's artistic director with an audacious production of INTO THE WOODS (September 18 - October 4). The Tony Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is being staged by Broadway director Moisés Kaufman, who will take the audience on a wild trip into the darker side of the woods, where they will experience a different version of familiar fairy tale characters. Choreography is by Daniel Pelzig. The show also features extensive puppetry created by Kansas City's puppet master Paul Mesner.
