The Vancouver premiere of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, July 15 at 7:30pm at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, August 8. In Vancouver, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, Sunday evening 6:30pm, Saturday matinees at 2pm, Sunday matinees at 1pm with an additional matinee performance on Wednesday, August 4 at 2pm. There will be no 6:30pm performance on Sunday, August 8.

Bill Hanney's all new North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) continues its 2010 season of musicals with the dazzling, family favorite JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT starring American Idol finalist Anthony Fedorov and featuring a chorus of 20 children from the North Shore. Jackson, Mississippi's New Stage Theatre, Mississippi's only not-for-profit professional theatre, will present DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST from July 15 to July 18. The musical, which features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, will be directed by Chris Roebuck, with musical direction by Cynthia Stuart and choreography by Tiffany Jefferson.

If you're already a fan of EVITA (or musical theatre in general), or if you've only seen the misguided movie version with Madonna in the lead role, and you've been turned off to the subject as a result, then you owe it to yourself to check out New Line's darkly engaging presentation.
