The Actors Training Center Repertory Company at The Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., will present DISNEY'S BEAUTY &THE BEAST JR., the enchanting theatrical version of the beloved Academy Award-winning film, in a limited engagement now through Sunday, May 12. DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. is slightly shorter than the original Tony Award-winning stage production and perfect for children five and older. The production is directed by Jeff Award winner Janet Louer, Artistic Director of The ATC Repertory Company.

THE GOLDEN VOICE, a new British musical by singer-songwriter Nick Fogarty, will star Darren Day as Mike Chariot when it premieres at the Arts Theatre from Wednesday 19 June, previewing from 12 June, for a strictly limited season until Saturday 31 August.

Yangtze Repertory Theatre's 20th anniversary production is 'The Empress Dowager,' a three-act epic examining 40 years of the reign of the Manchu empress who ruled China from behind the throne. It recounts the perilous journey of an ancient kingdom seeking a place in the modern world. The play is written and directed by Joanna Chan, Artistic Director, and will be performed by a cast of 25 in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present the piece May 31 to June 23.

Dundalk Community Theatre concludes its season with a production of the ABBA hit musical CHESS. Performances run from April 26 to May 5. Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics by Tim Rice. The musical started off as a rock opera concept recording before its first staging on Broadway in 1971. The musical is based very loosely on the Gospels' account of the last week of Jesus' life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem, and ending with the crucifixion. The third Broadway revival is currently playing at the Neil Simon Theatre.
