MTC MainStage Presents Cole Porter Revue, COLE, Now thru 5/12

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's award-winning professional theatre company, concludes their 2012/2013 Season with Cole: An Entertainment Based on the Words and Music of Cole Porter. The musical revue runs tonight, April 19 - May 12 at MTC Studio Theatre in Westport Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with matinees Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

For Americans in the 1930s and '40s, the songs and musicals of Cole Porter (1891-1964) defined sophistication, combining haute couture elegance and world-weary cynicism that was a hallmark of a New York aristocracy in transition. Devised by Benny Green and Alan Strachan, this show chronicles the life of Cole Porter, integrating more than 25 of his most memorable songs. From Yale to Paris to Manhattan to Broadway to Hollywood and, ultimately, back once again to Broadway, the show features popular Porter standards including "Anything Goes," "In the Still of the Night," "I Get a Kick Out of You" and many more from his Broadway musicals like Anything Goes and Kiss Me, Kate. Each performance is followed by a wine and cheese reception where the audience is invited to meet the actors and production team.

The cast of "Cole" features many talented and experience performers who have done everything from regional musicals to Broadway.

Blair Alexis Brown's credits include Master Class with Leslie Uggams, Donna/Oolie in the first NYC revival of City of Angels, The Music Man with Peter Scolari, and The Sound of Music with Rex Smith.

Kathy Calahan returns to MTC following a five year run in Mary Poppins on Broadway. She also appeared in MTC's award-winning production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Other credits include the national tours of Ragtime, Some Like It Hot: The Musical with Tony Curtis, and White Christmas.

Philip Chaffin made his Broadway debut in the world premiere of the Alan Menken/Tim Rice musical King David and recently starred as Arnold in the New York revival of The Boys Next Door. He has appeared in dozens of New York concerts, on the newly-released recording of Noel and Cole, and has received two Grammy nominations for producing the Broadway Cast Recordings of Follies and Sondheim on Sondheim for his record label PS Classics.

Eric Scott Kincaid was last seen at MTC as the M.C. in their production of Cabaret. Broadway credits include Cats, where he performed as Shimbleshanks for over five years, and Aspects of Love. Eric toured the world in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber opposite Sarah Brightman and has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Conan O'Brien Show.

Cole is directed by award-winning director Kevin Connors, who serves as Executive Artistic Director and is a co-founder of MTC. Scenic design by Eric Zoback, lighting by John Anselmo, costumes by Diane Vanderkroef, stage managed by Jim Schilling and musical direction by David Wolfson.
