A VIP screening of the new American Masters documentary, Marvin Hamlisch: What He Did For Love is set for The Paley Center for Media on Monday, December 9th at 6:15 PM. The new documentary is the American Masters series' Season 27 finale, premiering nationally Friday, December 27, 2013, 9-10:30 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) and available on DVD January 14, 2014 via PBS Distribution.

The Children's Playhouse of MD, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast, Jr.' the weekends of today, Dec. 7-8, 14-15, 21 and 22 at 1 pm in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCCB Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland to Present Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, JR., 12/7-22

The Children's Playhouse of MD, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." the weekends of Dec. 7-8, 14-15, 21 and 22 at 1 pm in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCCB Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. On Dec. 15, an additional 4 pm. performance will be given. The Dec. 7 performance will include American Sign Language interpretation by students of the CCBC Interpreter Preparation program. All tickets are $10 and can be ordered in advance by calling the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) or online at www.cpmarts.org. Group rates are available. Tickets will be sold at the door, space permitting. Advanced purchase is highly recommended.

Disney's Aladdin, a new musical comedy based on the Academy Award®-winning animated film, begins performances at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre on February 26th, 2014 for a March 20 opening. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show features music by Tony Award® and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken(Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman(Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and two-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw(The Book of Mormon). Aladdin is currently playing a limited pre-Broadway engagement at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre through January 5th, 2014. The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced the opening of Andrew Lloyd Webber's all-new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, which will run tonight, Dec. 4-29 at the Ordway in Saint Paul, Minn.
