The Wizard of Oz is coming to Laguna Beach! Take this classic musical journey with Dorothy Gale from Kansas through the Haunted Forest to Emerald City with her friends the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion and of course, Toto too! The Wicked Witch from the West threatens to hurt Dorothy and her Friends as they all try to find their way home in this all new Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre production of the beloved story, directed by Donna Inglima!
Donna Inglima To Receive Laguna Beach Arts Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award

Donna Inglima, Director of The Youth Theatre, Education & Outreach at The Laguna Playhouse, will be the recipient of 2017 LBAA (Laguna Beach Arts Alliance) Lifetime Achievement Award and Playhouse Board members Betsy and Gary Jenkins will receive the LBAA Individual Arts Patron Award on April 2, 2017, at the 11th Annual Art Star Awards.

Adapting The Wind in the Willows for the stage has been such a circuitous and unexpected process. I reread the book last Christmas and understood, but couldn't define, its enduring appeal. As a novel, it's gloriously messy - at times conventional and at others surprisingly radical. Kenneth Grahame switches genres mid-chapter, offers no consistency on the physics of his fictional world, and his views on class, sex and gender all feel stuffy by today's standards.

Sherlock creator and actor Mark Gatiss is to appear in Prime Theatre's latest production to start a year of celebration for the company's 30th birthday. The brand new play, 2046, will take place in a transformed Swindon Borough Council Chamber and is set 30 years in the future when London is flooded and parliament is forced to move to Swindon.

Sixty years young, last night the National Youth Theatre celebrated its storied past, buoyant present and - with a heartfelt plea for more financial support - essential future in a star-studded diamond gala at Shaftesbury Theatre. Those NYT participants who joined the company in this glittering anniversary year really lucked out, noted my companion, but it was hard to find a dull moment in decades of pioneering, diverse and life-changing work, as illustrated by this affectionate revue.

After reviewing over 230 play submissions, Center Theatre Group announced today that 10 finalists have been chosen for the first annual Humanitas/CTG Playwriting Prize. The award will be given to the best new, unproduced play written by a Southern California playwright.
