The Old Globe will present a one-night-only event, Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Nathan Englander, tonight, Feb. 18, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. This special discussion will reunite Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and award-winning playwright and novelist Nathan Englander, whose play The Twenty-seventh Man, about a group of writers imprisoned in Soviet Russia under mysterious circumstances, makes its West Coast premiere at The Old Globe in February, directed once again by Edelstein. The event will explore the evolution of the play; its fascinating historical setting; Englander's work in fiction versus theatre; and literature's place in modern American culture.
Cast Announced for New Schwartz & Almond Musical IOWA at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons has announced casting for IOWA, the world premiere of a new musical play written by Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun), music by Todd Almond (Stage Kiss at PH, Kansas City Choir Boy, The Tempest, On the Levee) and lyrics by Mr. Almond and Ms. Schwartz. Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt; next season's just-announced Antlia Pneumatica by Anne Washburn at PH), the musical play will be the fifth production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.
Space On Ryder Farm Names Alex Barron Artistic Curator

SPACE on Ryder Farm announced today that Alex Barron will become its first Artistic Curator. An accomplished dramaturg, literary manager and producer, Barron will oversee all artistic programming at SPACE on Ryder Farm - including its residency program and resident writers group,The Working Farm - and will spearhead new artistic projects and programs. Barron will work closely with SPACE's Executive Director Emily Simoness to grow the company's mission while maintaining its commitment to enriching artists and their work.

Golden Globe and Drama Desk Award winner Michael C. Hall will return to Hedwig and the Angry Inch from tonight, February 17 - Saturday, February 21. John Cameron Mitchell will continue in the show through Saturday, February 14 and will then take a one week leave to attend to a knee injury. John will return as 'Hedwig' on Tuesday, February 24 through Sunday, April 26.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards for the 2014-15 season. The awards, totaling $858,000, allow 26 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.
