The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced initial casting for the 24th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

The Old Globe presents the World Premiere of Allegiance - A New American Musical, an epic story of family, love and patriotism set during the Japanese American internment of World War II. As previously announced, television and film icon George Takei, Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga and Broadway favorite Telly Leung head up the cast.

Stage Left Theatre announces the upcoming World Premiere of Impenetrable written by Mia McCullough and directed by ensemble member Greg Werstler. Impenetrable is the first production of Stage Left's 31st season. Press opening tonight, September 7th at 8 PM at Theater Wit, 1229 W Belmont. The show runs through October 7th.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the San Diego Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People, the award-winning play about class divisions in modern-day Boston. Directed by Paul Mullins, Good People will run Sept. 29 - Oct. 28, 2012 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Sept. 29 - Oct. 3. With direction and musical staging by Annabel Bolton, this emotionally charged production is a delicate story of life and love and begins previews on September 4th, opens on September 12th and runs through October 21st on the WST Mainstage. In their first co-producing endeavor, HERE and the Hip-Hop Theater Festival in association with Collective Consciousness Theatre present the world premiere of How to Break, a new play fueled by human beat-boxing, breaking, popping and locking, linguistic flow and multimedia graffiti art. This production will play a limited engagement at HERE from October 18 - November 4, with Official Opening set for Tuesday, October 23 at 7:00pm.

Performances begin Tuesday, September 11th for the Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company's (Jonathan Silverstein, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) revised production of Marry Me A Little, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman René, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein.

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced that playwright Matthew Lopez, author of this past season's The Whipping Man, will be the 2012-13 Aetna New Voices Fellow at Hartford Stage. The announcement comes on the heels of former Aetna Fellow Quiara Alegria Hudes winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in April.

North Coast Repertory Theatre presents a San Diego premiere of The Underpants, adapted by Steve Martin and written by Carl Sternheim. The show begins previews tonight, September 5th through 7th and continues September 8 through 30, 2012.

Construction of the Human Heart, a bold and imaginative play by award-winning Australian playwright Ross Mueller, directed by Brendan Naylor, will receive its U.S. premiere at the Access Theater, 380 Broadway, with previews beginning tonight, September 5, at 8pm and opening Friday, September 7, at 8pm. Performances continue through September 16.

Assassins will be directed at The Milwaukee Rep by Artistic Director Mark Clements. This will be the third musical he has directed since he began his tenure at The Rep following last season's hit Next to Normal and Cabaret from his first season. With the selection of Assassins for the 2012/13 Season, Milwaukee Repertory Theater shows its commitment to continuing to produce full-scale musicals as part of its repertoire. Clements has assembled a top-notch cast for this production featuring many performers with extensive Broadway credits. Assassins runs in the Quadracci Powerhouse from tonight, September 4 - October 7, and opens on Friday, September 7.

Diversionary Theatre has announced the remaining line-up for it's 2012 'Diversionary Cabaret' series. After the wildly fun and successful test run, Diversionary Cabaret kicks into high gear with a great line-up of local and visiting musicians, stand-up comedians and limited run shows.
