Attic Theater to Present NY Premiere of Tennessee Williams' THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN at The Flea, 5/3-18

The Attic Theater Company will present the New York premiere of Tennessee Williams' THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN, directed by Laura Braza. Williams' adaptation of Anton Chekov's THE SEAGULL, THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN will be performed at The Flea (41 White Street -between Broadway & Church Streets) from Friday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 18th, 2013. THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN's Press Opening will be on Wednesday, May 8th.

Broadway/Hollywood crossover star Zachary Quinto was feted at the Dream Downtown last night in honor of his brand new cover for MANHATTAN Magazine and his recent co-stars from the lauded revival of the Tennessee Williams classic THE GLASS MENAGERIE showed their support - none other than theatre heavyweights Cherry Jones and Celia Keenan-Bolger.

Epic Theatre Ensemble to Stage RICHARD III: BORN WITH TEETH Off-Broadway, 4/16-5/4

The Award-Winning Epic Theatre Ensemble, now in their 12th year presents William Shakespeare's RICHARD III: Born With Teeth, part of Shakespeare for a New Generation, a national program of the National Endowment for the Arts in cooperation with Arts Midwest. The production, directed by Ron Russell, begins previews Off-Broadway on Tuesday, April 16th and opens Saturday, April 20th at 8:00 PM at the Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street). The play will run through May 4th.

Sundance Institute just presented playwright and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with the first-ever Tennessee Williams Award from the Institute's Theatre Program, which supports the development of new work for the stage. Sundance Institute Emeritus Trustee Sally Field presented the honor and accompanying $10,000 grant at the Celebrate Sundance Institute benefit for its Theatre Program last night at Stephan Weiss Studio in Greenwich Village. Amanda Plummer to Lead THE TWO CHARACTER PLAY at New World Stages; Opens 6/19

Tony and three-time Emmy Award-winner Amanda Plummer will return to the New York stage after a 15-year absence, along with Academy Award-nominated actor Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) in the Off-Broadway premiere production of Tennessee Williams' rarely seen The Two-Character Play at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Previews begin Monday, June 10. Opening Night is set for June 19 at 8:00 p.m. Equal parts Southern Gothic thriller, black comedy and psychological drama, the work, written during a time of great personal strife, is abstractly based on Williams' close yet complicated relationship with his sister, Rose. Gene David Kirk directs.

THE WHIPPING MAN Opens at Marin Theatre Tonight

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Virginia Stage Company, stages the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's Civil War drama The Whipping Man in Mill Valley from March 28 to April 21, 2013. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs the production. Featuring popular Bay Area actors L. Peter Callender, Nicholas Pelczar and Tobie Windham, as well as the design team from MTC's 2011 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nominated production of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, this co-production rehearsed and ran at VSC in Norfolk, Virginia, from February 26 to March 17, 2013, before tonight's move to MTC. Opening night at MTC is tonight, April 2.

CTC's innovative The New Play Workshop (July 11-13; August 1-3) will present two exciting new plays and in a signature Chautauqua event two years in the making, The Romeo & Juliet Project will re-interpret this classic tale of star-crossed lovers in a ground-breaking multi-disciplinary reimagining on July 27 on the celebrated 5000-seat Ampitheater stage.
