Series with the world premiere of Brett Neveu's haunting drama HER AMERICA (formerly titled MISS AMERICA), starring veteran Chicago and Broadway actress Kate Buddeke and directed by Linda Gillum. HER AMERICA will play January 6 - February 12, 2017 at The Greenhouse Theater Center (Downstairs Mainstage), 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. A Red Orchid Theatre announces full cast, creative team and new run dates for the World Premiere of Pilgrim's Progress by Ensemble Member Bret Neveu (The Opponent), directed by Ensemble Member Shade Murray (Mud Blue Sky, Accidentally like a Martyr).  Pilgrim's Progress will now run November 4-December 13, 2015 and feature Ensemble Members Kirsten Fitzgerald and Michael Shannon with Ryan Bourque (The Hypocrite's All Our Tragic) and Charlotte Mae Ellison (Writers Theatre's The Diary of Anne Frank).

The 11th annual New Stages Festival kicked off at Goodman Theatre on October 29. Appearing in repertory alongside FEATHERS AND TEETH is THE MAGIC PLAY by Andrew Hinderaker, a play that fuses magic and reality directed by Halena Kays; and CARLYLE by Thomas Bradshaw, an exploration of right-wing politics in America through the eyes of an African American Republican directed by Benjamin Kamine. The 2014 recipients of the Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the legendary writer, to award excellence in American Theater, are presented biennially. The 2014 Prize for the 2012-13/2013-14 seasons' Outstanding New American Play is awarded to The Body of an American by Dan O'Brien. The 2014 Prize for Promising New American Play is awarded to Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3) by Suzan-Lori Parks.

Goodman Theatre begins its landmark 90th season with an All-New Fall, two months of new American plays, each of which was developed in the theater's new play programs. Tonight, Smokefall -- playwright Noah Haidle's box office record-breaker that debuted last year in the Goodman's smaller Owen Theatre to enormous critical and popular acclaim -- opens on the Albert Theatre mainstage, directed by Anne Kauffman with original company intact, and runs through October 26.
