After receiving more than 3,000 nominations once BroadwayWorld.com announced it's first-ever New York Cabaret Awards in early October, BWW is now pleased to announce it's final nominations ballot in 20 categories. Now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians and shows of the year. Voting will continue until December 31 and winners will be announced in early January.

48 solo singers are competing in the fifth annual "MetroStar Talent Challenge" at The Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street. The seven-week, jury-and audience-voted competition completes three weeks of trials next Monday July 23 (showtime at 7pm), after which the contest will announce the Top 18 contestants who will advance to the next round.

New York's Metropolitan Room is accepting applications for this year's 2012 "MetroStar Talent Challenge" through June 30. The jury and audience-voted, elimination-round singers competition runs for seven consecutive Mondays, from July 9 through August 20. Marissa Mulder is the current MetroStar.

Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 10th Annual Cabaret Festival today, May 16 through May 20 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY. All performances are free to the public. The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook with performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists.

Nance will be debuting at the Metropolitan Room in Marcus Nance and Friends where he will showcase the talents of Canadian Broadway stars Jeremy Kushnier and Bruce Dow, Canadian Idol winner Melissa O'Neil and American cabaret artist Tanya Holt. On piano will be the musical director of Broadway?s Jesus Christ Superstar Rick Fox and distinguished professor of music at NYU Grant Wenaus. The performance will also welcome bassist Jonas Tauber.

On Monday, April 16, Natalie Douglas brought her new concert, 'Freedom Songs,' to the Broadway at Birdland stage. The show was a celebration of the union between music and civil rights activism, and highlighted songs from the fight for equality of all people, regardless of color, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs presented the 26th Annual MAC Awards Show on March 29th. The awards ceremony was held at B.B. King Blues Club, and the show was directed by Lennie Watts and produced by Julie Miller. BWW was there to cover the event. Check out the photos below!

For two nights only - Tuesday March 6 and Wednesday March 7, both at 7pm - Tanya Holt will reprise the critically acclaimed show she debuted at Urban Stages Winter Rhythms Festival in December. Her first nightclub act in five years, the newly titled "Forever Home," features music director Tracy Stark on piano, and Matt Wigton on bass. Lennie Watts, the Metropolitan Room's original talent booker and Holt's predecessor, directs.
