The Kennedy Center, in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the National New Play Network (NNPN)-the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays-and with Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, will host more than 50 playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs from July 25 to August 2, 2015 as part of the 10th annual weeklong MFA Playwrights' Workshop featuring new works by MFA students from Columbia University, Northwestern University, Fordham University, Yale School of Drama, the Juilliard School, New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, University of California-San Diego, and the Juilliard School. In response to overwhelming public demand and positive critical reception, Southern Rep Theatre is pleased to announce it will extend the run for its current production, DETROIT, by Lisa D'Amour, at the Ashe Power House Theater, 1731 Baronne Street. The extension will add an additional four performances to DETROIT's schedule: Thursday, June 25 - Saturday, June 27 at 8PM, plus a special Saturday matinee at 3PM on June 27. Profiles Theatre announces an extension for its hit production of Our New Harris by Nancy Harris, directed by Artistic Director Joe Jahraus. The critically-acclaimed Midwest premiere opened at Profiles on May 14, 2015 and will extend for an additional three weeks through July 19, 2015. Original cast members Miriam Canfield, Sarah Chalcroft, Killian Hughes and Layne Manzer will continue their roles. Performances are held at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway. (more...)

In response to popular demand, Soho Rep., in association with John Adrian Selzer, extends the world premiere of 10 out of 12 by Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns) to July 5. The production, which opens on June 10, reunites the playwright with the Obie Award-winning director Les Waters, Artistic Director at Actors Theatre of Louisville. In 10 out of 12, a company of theatre artists is engaged in the very peculiar-and uniquely impossible-task of making a new play. Based on notes Washburn took during her past technical rehearsals, this Soho Rep. commission is a wry and absorbing look at how work forms us and deforms us. (more...)
