SWINGTIME CANTEEN to Open 7/4 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre

By:

SWINGTIME CANTEEN, a musical by Linda Thorsen Bond, William Repicci, and Charles Busch, will open July 4th for a limited run at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre. This five woman musical takes place on stage at a concert for the Eighth U.S. Air Force in 1944 and pays tribute to the USO and all of the wonderful vintage classics from that time. SWINGTIME CANTEEN plans to assist service members who have been injured in the line of duty. Some proceeds from the show will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.

"I was lucky to have lived all over the world, traveled extensively, and learned life long lessons of respect, honor and loyalty," said SWINGTIME producer Jamie Monahan. "This is the best way I know how to say "thank you" to family, friends and all those who have served our country."

Monahan leads the cast of five that includes Carolynne Warren (First National: I LOVE LUCY), Bailey Seeker (Secret Theatre, Titan Theatre), Lori Lusted (Sierra Rep, Secret Theatre), and Laura LaCara (First National: IN THE MOOD). Lenny Banovez, who has previously helmed the Secret Theatre's award-winning Steampunk OLIVER! and TITAN Theatre Company's award-winning A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, will direct.

Additional creative team also includes: Harrison M. Beck (Musical Director), Emily M. Winokur (Costume Design), Jasmine Nicole (Scenic/Lighting Design), Nicholas Sotack (Choreography), and Alyssa Van Gorder (Stage Management).

SWINGTIME CANTEEN is produced by Jamie Monahan and Monahan Theatricals and is a proud sponsor of the Wounded Warrior Project. SWINGTIME CANTEEN is an Equity Approved Showcase.

Tickets for SWINGTIME CANTEEN are on sale now, and can be purchased online at www.cherrylanetheatre.org or www.swingtimecanteennyc.com.

Cherry Lane Theatre, including both the Mainstage and Studio theatre, is located in the West Village at 38 Commerce Street (three blocks south of Christopher street, just west of Seventh Avenue), New York, NY.
