Academy Award-Winner Olympia Dukais to Voice Role in Enda Wash's MISTERMAN, 9/26-10/12

"Misterman" enjoyed sold-out runs and glowing reviews from audiences and critics when it premiered at the 2011 Galway Arts Festival, followed by the New York premiere at St. Ann's Warehouse. "Misterman" is headed to Colorado with the news that Mr. Walsh's critically acclaimed hit play, will feature Olympia Dukakis voicing the role of Mammy. The play will be directed by Melissa Firlit and the role of Thomas Magill will be played by New York actor Craig MacArthur. "Misterman" opens at the Thingamajig Theatre Company's 99-seat black box on September 26th and runs through October 12th. The production will then relocate to Denver this fall before returning to New York in spring of 2015.

UConn Presents Fall Puppet Slam, 9/13

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry and the UConn Puppet Arts Program will present the 2014 UConn Fall Puppet Slam, on Saturday, September 13 at 8:00 p.m. in the Dramatic Arts Department's Studio Theatre. The UConn Fall Puppet Slam will feature short works by professional puppeteers from the Northeast, including Little Did Productions from New York City; Great Small Works from Cambridge; and Connecticut's Xing Xin Liu; as well as new works by talented students from UConn's Puppet Arts Program.

Verna Gillis to Bring 'TALES FROM GERIASSIC PARK' to United Solo, 10/5-23

This past June Verna Gillis turned 72...and this fall, the writer & performer will offer three performances of her laugh-out-loud solo show TALES FROM GERIASSIC PARK - On the Verge of Extinction as a part of the United Solo Theatre Festival (10/5 at 6pm) and the She-Devil Comedy Festival (10/22 at 7:30pm & 10/23 at 7pm).

Long Beach Playhouse's TWELFTH NIGHT Opens Tonight

Tonight, September 6, the Long Beach Playhouse production of Twelfth Night opens in the Studio Theatre. Directed by Gregory Cohen, Twelfth Night (As You Will), is one of Shakespeare's romantic comedies. Its title refers to the 12th day of Christmas, the traditional close of the holiday. Twins - Viola and Sebastian - become separated when they are shipwrecked on a mythical island. Countess Olivia is falling in love with Viola (disguised as a boy), while Sebastian is falling in love with Olivia.

The CSULB Theatre Arts Department's University Players open the 2014-2015 season with Merrily We Roll Along, with book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, running October 3rd through 12th in the Studio Theatre. Based on Kaufman and Hart's eponymous play, Merrily We Roll Along tells the story, in reverse chronological order, of the life of successful Hollywood mogul Franklin Shepard.

Twelfth Night is Shakespeare's most popular play and one of his greatest comedies. Written in 1601, it takes place in the mythical land of Illyria. Twins Viola and Sebastian go down in a shipwreck. Believing her brother is dead Viola dresses up as a man and takes the name Cesario. Viola/Cesario becomes the confidante of Orsino, Illyria's duke. Orsino sends Viola/Cesario to woo Olivia. But Viola/Cesario is now in love with Orsino. Adding to the comedic confusion are Viola's brother Sebastian, Feste the Clown, the drunken Sir Toby Belch, the foolish Aquecheek and the conniving Malvolio.
