Pride Films and Plays will follow up its sold-out Jeff Recommended run of Terrence McNally's Some Men with the Chicago premiere of The Submission by Jeff Talbott, winner of the 2011 Laurent's/Hatcher Award and the Outer Circle's John Gassner Award for Best New Play in 2012. The dynamic new work runs October 12 through November 25 at the Apollo Studio Theatre, 2540 N. Lincoln.
Soho Rep & PlayCo to Present GENERATIONS, 9/30-10/26

Soho Rep. and The Play Company, in association with John Adrian Selzer, announce casting and the creative team for the U.S. premiere of debbie tucker green's generations. The production, September 30-October 26, reunites the playwright with director Leah C. Gardiner, who worked together on the OBIE Award-winning 2011 production of born bad. generations features a 12-person community chorus led by music director Bongi Duma (The Lion King). The cast includes Shyko Amos (An Octoroon), Mamoudou Athie, Khail Toi Bryant (The Lion King), Ntombikhona Dlamini (Sarafina!), Thuli Dumakude (The Lion King, Poppie Nongena), Jonathan Peck (The Lion in Winter) and Michael Rogers (born bad, Breakfast With Mugabe).

59E59 Theaters will welcome Godlight Theatre Company with the world premiere of James Dickey's DELIVERANCE, based on his acclaimed novel, adapted by Sean Tyler, directed by Joe Tantalo. DELIVERANCE begins performances on Friday, October 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, November 9. Press opening is Tuesday, October 21 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM. Best-known for his roles in The Amazing Spider-Man, Royal Pains and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Campbell Scott takes to the Weston Playhouse stage for Anton Chekhov's wistful comedy, Uncle Vanya. Scott is playing the role of Astrov, the forlorn visionary philosopher in this timeless play in which tempers flare and passions are ignited when an aging professor returns with his beautiful young wife to his family's country estate. In an interesting spin, the Weston production is set in contemporary Vermont. This last show of the season is sponsored by the Vermont Country Store and has a limited engagement, today, August 28 - September 6.
