The song "My Simple Christmas Wish," with music and lyrics by David Friedman, was suggested for Hilton by well-known voice teacher Liz Caplan, because the song's hook is "I wanna be rich, famous and powerful…" Perez Hilton began recording every year for Broadway's Carols for a Cure in 2012, when he made his New York stage debut in the comical off-Broadway revue "NEWSical the Musical."
