Somewhere Glimmer is the second album by Trio S - the acclaimed group helmed by clarinetist Doug Wieselman, featuring Jane Scarpantoni on cello and Kenny Wollesen on drums and percussion. When Trio S was formed in 1999, Wieselman wanted to create a band separate from his Kamikaze Ground Crew the band which he co-led and was his vehicle for his compositions starting in the '80's.

Revisiting the history of The Town Hall means exploring some of the most important social and musical events in New York City over the past century.

Legendary singer Roberta Flack and leading theatrical producer Daryl Roth will receive the Town Hall 2017 Friend of the Arts Award, it was announced today.

The biggest stars of the Big Easy will cap The Town Hall's most extensive and wide-ranging spring season to date. On Thursday, June 15th, pianists and singers Dr. John and Henry Butler, accompanied by Dr. John's legendary backing band, The Nitetrippers, bring the heat, the songs and the swing of New Orleans to Manhattan for a one-of-a-kind musical summit.

Now celebrating its 20th year, Sexmob (Steven Bernstein - slide trumpet, Briggan Krauss - saxophones, Tony Scherr - bass, Kenny Wollesen - drums) continues its irreverent M.O. with characteristic subversive impunity.

Krystle Warren, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, now residing between France and New York, is a remarkable, if complicated, lady. Remarkable in that her music defies genre; complicated in that, for that very reason, she's difficult to pin. Her voice instantly recalls jazz, while her melodies evoke Lennon/McCartney. S

John Zorn and Executive Dean Richard Kessler announced today that The Stone, the landmark non-profit performance space founded in 2005 by John Zorn and dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde, will move to The Glass Box Theater at Arnhold Hall on 55 West 13th Street, in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village.

On Saturday, June 25, a day-long blowout celebration of New Orleans-inspired jazz commences at CENTRAL PARK SUMMERSTAGE with the debut of the NEW YORK HOT JAZZ FESTIVAL ALL-STARS under the direction of multi-award winning trumpeter / vocalist BRIA SKONBERG. The All-Stars band features New York Hot Jazz Festival alumni including multi-reed virtuoso ANAT COHEN; Grammy-winning big band leader VINCE GIORDANO (as heard on Boardwalk Empire), on double bass and tuba; drummer JOE SAYLOR (member of Jon Batiste's Stay Human, the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert); stride and ragtime specialist DALTON RIDENHOUR on piano; banjo and vocals by bluesman and hot-jazzer BLIND BOY PAXTON; plus a SURPRISE SPECIAL GUEST on trombone as well as other guests to round out the ensemble.

Nyack Center will host its annual holiday festival and community gathering on Sunday, December 13, at 7PM. This year, as in years past there will be both Readings and Music in the Holiday Spirit, at this fun filled holiday extravaganza produced and hosted by Kevin Pariseau & Elliott Forrest. The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University presents Twyla Tharp – 50th Anniversary Tour including two Chicago premieres, “Preludes and Fugues” and “Yowzie” this week, November 5 – 8, at the historic Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. In a momentous co-commission with Ravinia Festival, as well as four other dance presenters in four other cities, the Auditorium is thrilled to present these two new works by world-renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp.
