Cross Purpose, the first major revival of Albert Camus' darkly absurd and tragic play, is returning to the King's Head Theatre for a four-week season after a hugely-successful short autumn run that saw Jamie Birkett nominated Best Actress in the Off West End Awards.

Artistic Director Daniel Evans today unveils Sheffield Theatres' spring season for 2013, which includes two world premieres - Bull, a new play by Mike Bartlett, and This Is My Family, a new musical comedy by Tim Firth; major revivals of D.H. Lawrence's masterpiece The Daughter-in-Law and Alan Bennett's The History Boys, and Sheffield People's Theatre present their second production, 20 Tiny Plays about Sheffield. Full casting for My Fair Lady, the Crucible Christmas musical is also announced today.

A man returns home to bring good fortune to his Mother and Sister, deciding to remain anonymous, a decision that ultimately proves fatal. He finds them running a guesthouse, murdering their wealthy guests and dumping them in a nearby river. Darkly absurd and tragic consequences ensue in this play by Nobel Laureate Albert Camus. Cross Purpose, directed by Stephen Whitson, plays at the King's Head Theatre from tonight, October 7 - Sunday November 11, playing on Sundays and Mondays.

Artistic director Timothy Sheader will direct George and Ira Gershwin's hit musical comedy, Crazy for You as the final show in the 2011 season at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 28 July - 10 September. The creative team from the multi-award winning production of Hello, Dolly! reunite as Stephen Mear choreographs and Peter McKintosh designs. Gareth Valentine returns as the musical director after joining the Open Air Theatre last season for Sondheim's Into the Woods.
