Further evidence that Yiddish is suddenly hip in 2017 was on flashy display last night at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, as the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene welcomed a diverse and eclectic crowd to celebrate mothers and the mother tongue in grand style. Prominent producer Daryl Roth and nine other women trailblazers in the arts, sciences, business and philanthropy were honored, and a dazzling all-female cast performed one showstopper after another. The evening's mother hen was the fabulous four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh, who delighted the audience with her funny and peppery mix of wisdom and heartfelt cheerleading for the Jewish mothers attending and for the Jewish mother in all of us.

Initial casting is announced today (20 April 2017) for Qdos Entertainment's London Palladium production of Dick Whittington.  Following the success of Cinderella last year, the production will see the return of Julian Clary who will play Spirit of the Bells, Paul Zerdin as Idle Jack and Nigel Havers as Captain Nigel.  Further casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

On November 12 at 3PM she will bring back her beloved one woman tribute Sophie Tucker In Person at the Ziegfeld Society at Lang Hall at Hunter College, 69th and Lexington. Ms. Allen will also return to the stage with her new show she recently debuted called, I'm A New Yorker written and directed by Ian Finkel. I'm A New Yorker will be performed at Don't Tell Mama's (343 West 46th Street) on Tuesday, November 29 and Wednesday, December 14 at 6:30pm.
