MetroStage to Present A BROADWAY CHRISTMAS CAROL, 11/25-12/28

Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin has announced A Broadway Christmas Carol, created by Kathy Feininger, will return to MetroStage for the holidays Nov. 25-Dec. 28 for a fifth season . It has been the holiday show for the past four seasons and has become a holiday tradition here at MetroStage. Prior to 2009, it had played to sold out houses at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland, for seven consecutive years ending in 2004.

Signature Theatre Extends OUR LADY OF KIBEHO

Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for the World Premiere of OUR LADY OF KIBEHO by Katori Hall, directed by Michael Greif. The production will now play through Sunday, December 14, 2014. The production opened to critical acclaim on Sunday, November 16 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Mamoudou Athie, Diane Lane, Gayle Rankin, and Tony Shalhoub will be featured in its upcoming production of THE MYSTERY OF LOVE AND SEX, a new play by Bathsheba Doran. The production, which will be directed by Sam Gold, will begin previews Thursday, February 5 and open on Monday, March 2 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).
James Lapine to Receive Signature Theatre's 2015 Stephen Sondheim Award

On March 30, 2015, Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor the multiple Tony Award-winning Broadway playwright and director James Lapine with the company's sixth Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential musical theatre writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award Gala will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Broadway production this fall, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater mounts a new staging of Fiddler on the Roof, the iconic musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Helmed by Artistic Director Molly Smith, the production features choreography by Arena favoriteParker Esse, who adapts the original Jerome Robbins choreography for an in-the-round staging, and a 10-piece orchestra led by Musical Director Paul Sportelli (Arena's My Fair Lady, Light in the Piazza). Jordan Dean (Mamma Mia! CSC's Midsummer), Jeff Hayenga (The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Elephant Man), Mark Junek ('Smash', Berkeley Rep's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) and Elizabeth Morton (Death of a Salesman) will lead an industry reading of Locust Song, a new play by Jerry Marsini on November 17th at 7 pm and on November 18th at 12:30pm at the WorkShop Theater Company's Main Stage, 312 W 36th Street. Drama Desk Nominee, Tony Speciale, who recently directed the Barry Manilow musical Harmony (2014 Suzi Bass Award winner Outstanding Director of a Musical & Outstanding Production of a Musical), will direct the Manhattan reading.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of Will Eno's Title and Deed/Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions. Title and Deed originally premiered in Ireland in 2011 before its first American production in 2012 at Signature Theatre Company in New York. Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions, a collection of five short plays, premiered at the Flea Theater in New York in 2007, and enjoyed a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012.
