Signature Theatre's What I Did Last Summer, written by A.R. Gurney and directed by Jim Simpson, will welcome Izzie Steele (The Heart of Robin Hood) in the role of 'Elsie' (previously played by Kate McGonigle) beginning tonight, June 2nd. The production runs through June 7 at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The New Group presents the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. This production will feature Erin Darke, Annapurna Sriram and Michael Zegen, and as previously announced, Jesse Eisenberg and Kunal Nayyar. The show opens tonight, June 2, for a limited Off-Broadway engagement slated through June 28 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).
U.S. Premiere of BEHIND THE MASK Set for TNC, 6/25-7/12

An ancient myth about blood and honor reveals the secret life of a Chinese theater troupe in the dark comedy 'Behind the Mask -- a Play' by Chinese authors Feng BaiMing and Huang WeiRuo, which is being newly adapted by Yangtze Repertory Theatre in a production helmed by Chinese-born director Chongren Fan. The play will be performed in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles and will be completely accessible for English-speaking audiences. English translation is by Kristen Hung. This U.S. premiere will be presented by Yangtze Rep June 25 to July 12 at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, East Village.

SUICIDE NOTES: In Their Own Words is a gripping one hour play that uses real suicide notes and performed by four actors in the vein of The Vagina Monologues and Love Letters. Stan Zimmerman, a TV and film veteran and award winning theatre writer/director, returns to Hollywood Fringe Festival for his three straight year. But this time, he departs from his usual comedy ventures to create this unique theatrical piece after loosing a close friend to suicide three years ago.

The Tony Randall Theatrical Fund has announced the award winners for the 2015-2016 season. Furthering its commitment to non-profit theater companies, innovative productions, initiatives in the arts education and arts-based community outreach programs, TRTF grants aid the growth and development of each organization. This year the Fund is pleased to award over $100,000, for general operating support grants to twelve exceptional theater companies with a proven track record of artistic excellence and ambitious, mission-driven theater-making.

As BroadwayWorld reported over the weekend, Anne Meara passed away on Saturday. She was 85. Meara appeared in five Broadway shows and was Tony-nominated for her performance as Marthy Owen in ANNA CHRISTIE in 1992, opposite Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson.
Roger Rees on Leave From THE VISIT; Tom Nelis Steps In

BroadwayWorld has learned that Roger Rees is currently on leave from The Visit, and in his place, Tom Nelis is temporarily stepping in as Anton Schell. No word yet on the duration of the hiatus. Of note, the star has also been swapped out for Nelis on the show's official web site. According to audience member reports, Nelis is giving a stellar performance in the role opposite the legendary Chita Rivera. Keep checking BroadwayWorld as we learn more!
