Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Manhattan's 'extreme' open mic, is the place for a monthly event called MENTOR MONDAYS, which pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. A sneak peek at a new concert special featuring the music of ubiquitous Broadway and international composer Frank Wildhorn is now available to view in anticipation of its TV premiere tonight in select markets.

2014 sees some new names and some returns to The Crazy Coqs. January starts with the London debut of the sizzling cabaret performer Carole J .Bufford and her show Body and Soul (January 7 - 11) followed by the popular Broadway star Brent Barrett and his show Night Songs (January 14 -18) and then actress and singer Linda Purl with her show Midnight Caravan: Celebrating the Great Ladies of the Glamorous Nightclub Era of the 40s & 50s (January 21 - 25).

Today we are talking to one of Broadway's biggest recent breakout stars all about his wide range of recent roles, from Broadway comedies to TV dramas to big screen movie musicals and beyond - the amiable and versatile Billy Magnussen. Two-time Tony Award-winner Mark Rylance stars in TWELFTH NIGHT and Richard III, two startlingly different performances in repertory, as the suddenly love struck noblewoman Olivia in Twelfth Nightand as the ruthless and conniving title monarch in Richard III. The critically heralded all-male Shakespeare's Globe productions of Twelfth Night and Richard III, which delighted audiences and broke all box office records in London's West End earlier this year, opened last night, Sunday, November 10 at the Belasco Theatre, and BroadwayWorld was there for all of the opening night festivities. On Monday, October 29, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, was proud to present a new monthly segment called MENTOR MONDAYS, which pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. For the premiere segment, producer Trevor McQueen paired composer Eric Dietz, a recent Carnegie Mellon University graduate with one of the current stars of Big Fish, Kirsten Scott. The Broadway at Birdland concert series is pleased to announce the return of William Blake in Echoes of Etta II, on Monday, October 28 at 7pm.

For the second week in a row, Lorna Luft brought her fund-raising "Pink Party" to the Broadway at Birdland stage with thrilling results. After a recent bout with breast cancer, the award-winning performer decided to 'give back' with two sold-to-the-walls events benefitting The Actors Fund's Phyllis Newman Womens Health Initiative and the Tower Cancer Research Foundation's Dr. Philomena McAndrew Fund. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has chosen Abrams Artists Agent Beth Blickers, OBIE and Drama Desk Award-winning actress Donna Lynne Champlin, Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-nominated actor Hunter Foster, Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-nominated composer and lyricist Amanda Green, Tony Award-nominated director Thomas Kail, Associate Producer of the Old Globe Eric Louie, Outer Critics Circle-nominated director and choreographer Josh Prince, Tony Award and Drama Desk nominated actor and writer Tony Sheldon, Tony Award-nominated and Grammy-winning composer Lucy Simon, and two-time Tony Award-winning actor Michael Cerveris to serve as the Grand Jury of this year's Next Link project.

Recent Broadway headliner and current INTO THE WOODS movie musical prince Billy Magnussen is set for a UK gig with his band Roserved For Rondee this November he has announced via social media.

The 2013 NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation Competition returns for its eighth year, continuing at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street) through October 11. NYMF held open auditions for Season 8 of the annual talent contest. Nearly 200 hopefuls turned out to compete for the title of NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation, and the field was narrowed down to 20 semifinalists, who competed in two heats at New World Stages.

The 2013 NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation Competition returns for its eighth year and will take place at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street) beginning tonight, September 27th.

Today we are talking to uniquely compelling composer and lyricist known for her urbane wit and contemporary sensibility, having contributed music and lyrics to the recent Broadway musicals HIGH FIDELITY, BRING IT ON! and HANDS ON A HARD BODY as well as penning many other original musicals and unique standalone songs over the course of her career, Amanda Green.
