A month into their UK tour, Birdsong, produced by the Original Theatre Company and Birdsong Productions, is playing at the Birmingham Rep this week. This show is one of many on the road this year that marks the centenary of World War I and is based on the world famous novel by Sebastian Faulks.

The National Portrait Gallery stages the first national exhibition of the First World War centenary commemorations, opening tomorrow Thursday 27 February 2014. The Great War in Portraits (27 February-15 June 2014) marks the start of a four-year public programme at the Gallery of displays and events, and workshops for young people.

In 2014, the year that will mark 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War, Rachel Wagstaff's stage adaptation of BIRDSONG, from the novel by Sebastian Faulks, will tour the UK. This follows a hugely successful and critically acclaimed tour earlier this year which was seen by over 75,000 people. The 2014 tour will begin on 12 February at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne. There will be a national press night on Tuesday 18 March at Birmingham Rep.

Following 2010's West End hit, this exciting, brand new adaptation marks the very first touring production of the play. Over 22 venues across the UK, a dynamic cast of 12 shape Faulks's much loved wartime epic into an intimate story of love and sacrifice, set against the backdrop of the Western Front.

This story of sacrifice, courage and above all, love, will undeniably play with the emotions of any audience member. Englishman Stephen Wraysford leads his men through the notoriously infamous Battle of the Somme, whilst passionate and sensitive memories of his former lover Isabelle Azaire replay in his mind.

According to Variety, Tony winner Eddie Redmayne is in negotiations to star alongside Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in 'Jupiter Ascending.' The sci-fi movie is 'set in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe.'
