Drury Lane Theatre announces Johanna McKenzie Miller will direct its production of Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling. Bringing this story of female strength and friendship to life alongside McKenzie Miller is an all-female creative team, including Angela Weber Miller (Scenic Design), Jessica Pabst (Costume Design), Lindsay Lyddan (Lighting Design), Sarah Ramos (Sound Design), Emily Young (Wig Design), and Cassy Schillo (Properties Design).

Shorts Awards Announced at 2020 Sundance Film Festival

Winners of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival jury prizes in short filmmaking were announced tonight by Sundance Institute at a ceremony in Park City, Utah. The Short Film Grand Jury Prize, awarded to one film in the program of 74 shorts selected from a record high 10,397 submissions, went to So What If The Goats Die, directed and written by Sofia Alaoui. The Short Film program is presented by Southwest Airlines®.

Inaugural Rom Com Fest Announces 2019 Winners

The winners of the inaugural Rom Com Fest were announced yesterday in Los Angeles at the Downtown Independent Theater following a special 20th anniversary screening of the classic rom com 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. Top honors from the festival went to Ann Lupo for IN REALITY (Jury Prize for Best Feature Film) and Erin Brown Thomas for REKINDLED (Jury Prize for Best Short Film).

FX Lands Stellar Ensemble Cast for the Drama Series Pilot GONE HOLLYWOOD, Including John Magaro and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

FX today announced the cast that will star in the pilot for Gone Hollywood. Set in 1980, Gone Hollywood centers on a group of talent agents who defect from an old-guard percentery to found their own, which skyrockets to industry dominance, disrupting the business and changing movies forever. The show will mix its fictional protagonists with real-life entertainment figures and events.

We The Women Collective's workshop production of Steph Del Rosso's Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill premiered at the Los Angeles Theater Center this past weekend, directed by Kate Bergstrom. The cast included Jennifer Kim (Mozart in the Jungle), Will Greenberg (Wrecked), Chris Candy, Samantha Ressler (This is the End), Nathalie Love (20th Century Woman), Kevin Phillips (Notorious) & Grant Harrison. Musical guests HAIM, Miya Folick and Jessica Tonder performed over the weekend, HAIM performing on opening night. 100 of the tickets per show were allocated to Planned Parenthood Peer Advocate Students as well as other students groups like Meet Bridget & IDSA. 

2019 Sundance Film Festival Announces Shorts Awards

Winners of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival jury prizes in short filmmaking were announced today by Sundance Institute at a ceremony in Park City, Utah. The Short Film Grand Jury Prize, awarded to one film in the program of 73 shorts selected from 9,443 submissions, went to Aziza, directed by Soudade Kaadan and co-written by Kaadan and May Hayek. The Short Film program is presented by YouTube, as part of their ongoing support for emerging storytellers, unique voices and independent artists. 2019 marks the seventh year YouTube has been the official sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival Shorts program.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) is proud to produce the world premiere of The Burn, written by acclaimed Chicago playwright Philip Dawkins and directed by Devon de Mayo. Featuring a cast of professional actors, The Burn addresses the bullying and social media issues that many teens experience in school.  Public performances for The Burn are Saturday, February 17 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, February 23 at 7:30pm; Saturday, February 24 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, March 2 at 7:30pm; Saturday, March 3 at 3pm and 7:30pm; and Saturday, March 10 at 3pm in the Upstairs Theatre.  Weekday performances are reserved for school groups only. Tickets to public performances ($20; $15 with student I.D.) are available through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted St), 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org.
