Mikhail Baryshnikov serves as the Honorary Chairman for Uptown Downtown, a special one-night-only extravaganza to benefit the Abrons Arts Center on October 14. Bringing together the brightest lights of New York City's uptown and downtown performance scenes, the evening will feature Kyle Abraham, Joey Arias, Jack Ferver + James Whiteside, Ellen Greene, Robert La Fosse, Bebe Neuwirth, Philippe Petit, and other special guests. Up2Us (up2us.org), a New York based not-for-profit organization, will be holding its inaugural gala dinner at Tribeca Rooftop in New York City on June 4. The event will benefit the organization's mission to advance sports as the solution to the obesity, youth violence and educational challenges facing America's youth today. Internationally acclaimed musician and composer Wynton Marsalis will present Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the Legacy Award, recognizing the NBA hall of famer for his 20-plus years of contribution to sport, education, and humanitarian efforts. The evening will bring professional athletes, Hollywood celebrities and other VIPs together as they celebrate Up2Us' work. The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - the acclaimed comedy/variety show - will conclude its Spring 2013 season tonight, May 16 at The Duplex in New York's West Village. After a sell-out year, The Meeting* has added a second performance each month due to popular demand; there are now shows at 7:000 PM and 9:30 PM.
