Comedian, film and TV star Janeane Garofalo has just joined the New Group's production of Russian Transport by Erika Sheffer, directed by Scott Elliott. The production's run begins on January 17, 2012 at the Acorn Theater, with tickets on sale December 5th.

Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning play focuses on Dodge, the aging patriarch of a Midwestern family with a disturbing secret, and the destructive scars this secret has inflicted upon the family. When Vince, Dodge's grandson, returns after an absence of several years, the secret threatens to spill forth and destroy the family. Drawing upon the crumbling of the American dream and the tragedies of ancient Greece, Buried Child is replete with sardonic humor and darkly disturbed characters.

Since its world premiere in Ljubljana nearly three years ago, the Mini teater (Ljubljana, Slovenia) / Novo kazalište Zagreb (Croatia) co-production of Heiner Müller's controversial Macbeth after Shakespeare has garnered critical praise and awards all over the world, including such far-flung locales as Seoul and Havana.

This November, Town Players of Newtown will open Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, BURIED CHILD, thru November 20, 2011.
