2018 Barrymore Award Nominations Announced For Excellence In Theatre

Theatre Philadelphia, the region's marketing and leadership organization for theatre, proudly announces the 2018 nominees for the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre. Celebrating the rich, diverse professional theatre scene in the Greater Philadelphia region, the Barrymore Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 5th at 7pm at the Bok Building at 1901 S. 9th Street in South Philadelphia. Guests will continue the festivities with an after-party Celebration at the same location. Tickets for artists, supporters, and the general public are now on sale at www.theatrephiladelphia.org.

A local company is set to stage a World Premiere musical about a challenge faced by every human being – living in our bodies. This new musical, In My Body, features lyrics by Michael Biello and music by Dan Martin with a book by Lis Kalogris, Kate Cipriano, and Melissa Hays. Through song and spoken word, movement and photography, In My Body reveals true-life physical and emotional body stories and challenges us to embrace who we are and open our hearts to others.

11th Hour Theatre Company continues its 12th season with its second Next Step Concert Series performance. This time the series features a brand-new musical by three up and coming writers. Five Points, comes to the Next Step Concert Series, November 18-20. Five Points features Music written by Douglas Lyons and Ethan Pakchar, Lyrics by Douglas Lyons, and a Book by Harrison David Rivers. The concert will be at The Arden's Studio Theatre at the Hamilton Family Arts Center. 62 N. Second Street. The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, on Saturday 17 September opened the New2NY Series presentation of the new musical How to Be an American!, a political cabaret based on Plunkitt of Tammany Hall-A Series of Very Plain Talks on Very Practical Politics, adapted by T. Cat Ford(The Chaos Trade, Pow'r in the Blood).
