Chicago Children's Theatre Spreads Hope, Builds Dreams with West Loop School Partnerships

Chicago Children's Theatre has launched a unique series of community engagement projects with schools and children's service organizations in or near Chicago's West Loop - exciting examples of what's to come in January when Chicago's largest professional theater devoted to children and families opens its first-ever permanent home, Chicago Children's Theatre, The Station, in the neighborhood's former 12th District Police Station, 100 S. Racine Avenue.

The Ruth Page Civic Ballet is proud to present its annual production of The Nutcracker, choreographed by Ruth Page andco-directed by Victor Alexander and Dolores Lipinski Long. This production is performed at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago, Today, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors and children under the age of 12 years and $10 for NEIU students, faculty and staff, one ticket per I.D. card. Also available is "Tea with Clara," a delightful tea party which patrons can enjoy with their favorite The Nutcracker characters from 3:15 - 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Tickets for "Tea with Clara" include admission to the tea party and either 1 or 5 p.m. performance, and are $85 for adults and $50 for children under the age of 12 years. Performance tickets and "Tea with Clara" tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at www.ruthpage.org.

Chicago Dance Crash (CDC) and Artistic Director Jessica Deahr are proud to regain their sense of humor with the world premiere of And Now for the Dancing Pants!, fit for all ages, playing at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Ave., Dec. 2-10. Opening Night is Today, December 2nd at 8pm. Dancing Pants! is conceived by Deahr with choreography by Belle Jensen, Adam McGaw, Richard Ashworth, Stephanie Paul, and CDC Senior Company Member Kaitlin Webster. The show also features an original recording of Silverstein's works narrated by local rapper Al Tamper and a live introduction by local emcee Mr. Mattrick Swayze. Performances are Todays and Saturdays at 8pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children, and may be purchased at www.chicagodancecrash.com.

The Chicago Latino Music Festival, a program of the International Latino Cultural Center (ILCC) and Chicago's only Latino-focused classical music festival, concludes its 11th season on Thursday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Studebaker Theater in the Fine Arts Building (410 S. Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF), under the leadership of Executive Director Ginger Farley, is pleased to announce its open call for applications for Lab Artist Awards in 2017, marking the program's 14th year. The most significant, sustained sources of support for individual choreographers working in Chicago, CDF's four Lab Artist Awards each include a $15,000 cash grant, combined with a full year of mentorship, as recipients explore and develop new works. The program fosters dance excellence and innovation while building relationships among artists, presenters, audiences and funders.

Mr. Vilaro was nominated by Jenny Delfini and selected by the awards committee.
