Tickets for Royal Shakespeare Company's JULIUS CAESAR Go On Sale Today

Today, February 1, tickets go on sale for the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company's critically acclaimed production of Julius Caesar. The production, directed with a new twist by the RSC's new Artistic Director Gregory Doran, is set in present-day Africa with a cast of highly acclaimed, black British actors and live, contemporary West African music, fostering the resonance of this classic tragedy. Having opened to five-starreviews in the UK last year, the Columbus run is the production's only North American engagement following its New York City premiere in April.
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's DANGEROUS LIAISONS Opens February 15th

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Cincinnati's stage for the classics, will present Christopher Hampton's "Dangerous Liaisons", playing from February 15- March 10, 2013. This production is directed by Drew Fracher and features CSC Resident Ensemble Members Giles Davies, Corinne Mohlenhoff, Sherman Fracher and Kelly Mengelkoch. Stefanie Powers to Replace Valerie Harper in National Tour of LOOPED

Emmy Award nominee Stefanie Powers will now play the role of legendary actress Tallulah Bankhead on the national tour of LOOPED. She replaces Valerie Harper, who was advised by doctors to take an immediate medical leave after having recently been hospitalized; she has flown back to Los Angeles with her husband Tony Cacciotti where she will receive continuing treatment and medical care.

Today in 1982, Macbeth opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 21 performances. Written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1607. The earliest account of a performance of what was probably Shakespeare's play is April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing such a play at the Globe Theatre.

St. Ann's Warehouse welcomes back Kneehigh and director Emma Rice for the New York premiere of The Wild Bride. In this adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Girl Without Hands,' narrated by Satan himself, a father accidentally sells his daughter to the Devil. When our heroine cleverly escapes, a lyrical love story laced with devilish humor unfolds. The production features a bluegrass score by longtime Kneehigh composer Stu Barker, performed by live musicians and the cast.

UW School of Drama presents David Edgar's Pentecost, directed by MFA in Directing candidate Andrew McGinn, in his thesis production at the Jones Playhouse. The American Shakespeare Center is the only U.S. theatre company included in the British Broadcasting Corporation's six-part series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered.' The final installment of the series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered: The Tempest with Trevor Nunn,' features the ASC prominently through rehearsal and performance footage from the company's 2011 production of The Tempest as well as interviews with ASC Co-Founder and Artistic Director Jim Warren and actors James Keegan and Miriam Donald Burrows.

Following a sell out run at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival, Maurice's Jubilee will go on a national tour from this month, January 2013. This is Olivier Award winning Nichola McAuliffe's most recent play and she will reprise her role as Katie, alongside Olivier Award winning Julian Glover (Maurice) and SheiLA Reid* (Helena). Maurice's Jubilee is directed by multiple Fringe First winner Hannah Eidinow and has design by Christopher Richardson.
