Rita Moreno, The Isley Brothers & More Will Receive Honorary Degrees at Berklee Commencement

Berklee President Roger H. Brown will present Rita Moreno, Ronald and Ernie Isley, Lucian Grainge, and Milton Nascimento with honorary doctor of music degrees at Berklee's commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 7, at the 7,000-seat Agganis Arena at Boston University. Moreno, this year's commencement speaker, will address more than 900 Berklee graduates and their parents and invited guests.

The California Symphony celebrates its 30th season in 2016-17 and its fourth season with Music Director Donato Cabrera, with a year of special programming that highlights the music by a Young American Composer-in-Residence program alumnus on each of its six concerts at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Throughout its 30-year history, the Orchestra has made American repertoire its special focus, nurturing and commissioning work from emerging American composers as well as performing the most revered core classical repertoire.

Ms. Abdul will be honored on Sunday, April 24th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (9876 Wilshire Blvd.) and famed choreographers Carl Jablonski and Kevin Carlisle will receive PDS Choreography Awards, for their extraordinary contribution to dance. In a special tribute, legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke will receive The Dance Legacy Award.
