BWW Review: The Starry Eccles Theater Grand Opening Impresses

The newly completed George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City received a grand opening celebration fit for the stars on Friday, October 21. The beautiful building was the centerpiece of a concert that featured Rita Moreno, Megan Hilty, and Brian Stokes Mitchell, along with a slew of local performers.

American Pops Orchestra Launches LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES

Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will launch the 12:15 PM lunchtime concert series "THIRD THURSDAYS" to highlight the unique musical personalities and special talents of the members of their acclaimed ensemble at Live! at 10th and G (First Congregational, UCC Washington - 945 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20001). Admission to the 30 minute events are free, but a free-will offering will benefit the DC Youth Orchestra Program, where Mr. Frazier is an Artist-in-Residence.

Lin-Manuel Miranda continues his longstanding support of movies at the United Palace in Washington Heights with a $100K donation for a new DCP projection system that will produce a Hollywood-quality image. He will debut the new projector on October 16 with a screening of the original Mary Poppins, which he will introduce. The classic 1964 Disney movie has been selected because later this year Lin-Manuel Miranda is temporarily relocating to London to begin shooting Mary Poppins Returns.
