A re-conceived version of the Rodgers & Hart 1940 classic Pal Joey is now running at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre. After an enthusiastically received concert reading at Pasadena's prestigious Boston Court Theatre last year, Director Peter Schneider was encouraged by the esteemed Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization to move forward with a fully realized production. Three-time Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker recently joined the cast of Broadway's CINDERELLA as the Fairy Godmother, Marie, on September 6. Luker will continue in the role through through January 19, 2014, while original cast member Victoria Clark departs the production temporarily for a new project. Producers Steven Van Zandt and Maureen Van Zandt, Marc Brickman, and BASE Entertainment have announced that following a critically acclaimed, sold-out Broadway engagement, Once Upon A Dream starring The Rascals will debut in Detroit at the Fox Theatre for oneperformance only on Friday, November 15 at 8 p.m. as part of the Fifth Third Bank Fox Theatre Series.

Amphibian Stage Productions opens the first offering in its new Amphibian Cabaret Series, Nobody's Hart: Diana Sheehan Sings the Lyrics of Lorenz Hart, this week at the company's home on South Main Street. Created and performed by Diana Sheehan, with musical direction, arrangements, and piano by James McQuillen, cello by Sarah Choi, and music by Richard Rodgers, this cabaret performance will run Thursday, September 12 through Sunday, September 15.

Ms. Luker takes over the role from Victoria Clark, who leaves Cinderella temporarily for a new project, returning to the musical on January 21.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company has announced its 2013-2014 season, the premiere season as Resident Theatre Company at Boston's Historic Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA). Fiddlehead Theatre Company has a 20-year history of presenting professional theatre and educational programming for the Boston area and is committed to producing theatre that uplifts while engaging audiences in current issues.

Cinderella welcomed its first same sex proposal last night, September 4, directly following the 7:30pm show. The couple, Jason Aronne and Kunal Ghose, lives in San Diego and have been together for two years. Ghose said: 'Growing up in India you don't hear many western stories but you do read Cinderella and it left a lasting impression of finding 'happily ever after' on me. Aurora Theatre Company presents Bay Area cabaret star Craig Jessup in concert with A SWELL NOËL. Celebrating the season with masterful music-making, Jessup (last seen at the Aurora in Mae West's SEX) performs favorites from his wide-ranging career in cabaret and musical theater, along with classic holiday tunes, and original songs.

For their 2013-2014 season American Classics brings three "firsts" to their programming. For the first time American Classics will present a guest performer in their own concert, acclaimed entertainer John O'Neil in his popular salute to Danny Kaye, 'So Kaye, a one man "tongue-twisting tour-de force" showcasing songs, stories and monologues culled from Kaye's illustrious career. 'So Kaye was nominated for the prestigious IRNE award in 2001; since that time O'Neil has performed the show up and down the East Coast from Maine to Florida. "Adding John O'Neil and 'So Kaye to our season is exciting for us. John has appeared with us in the past, but we are delighted to be able to showcase him in one of his most popular shows," says Producing Director Benjamin Sears, who notes, "this is Kaye's centenary year, so it's a perfect time to feature John in an American Classics season."

NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, which concluded a hit summer engagement downtown on September 2nd, will take up residence in the Theater District, on West 45th Street between Times Square and 8thAvenue, for a 14-week limited run beginning September 24th. Since its first production at Ars Nova in the fall of 2012, the show has become a sensation, meriting expansion this summer to a 199 seat pop-up supper club built specifically for the production in the Meatpacking District. After playing to packed houses since May, producers Howard & Janet Kagan will bring Dave Malloy's acclaimed electopop opera and its opulent custom venue - Kazino - to the heart of the theater district.

In mid-August, the news website Bloomberg.com reported that 54 Below, the popular new nightclub that opened last June in the basement of the old Studio 54, needed a major cash infusion in the six-figure range if it was going to survive. Perhaps if they just book Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway on a regular basis-either individually or together-their bottom line will start singing a happy tune. The sisterly songbirds recently sold out a five-show run at the venue with a revival of their crowd-pleasing show 'Sibling Revelry.'

Fall is quickly approaching, which means that Broadway will soon be blowing up with brand new productions. Ten plays will be eligible for Tony nominations next year, including: Romeo and Juliet, The Glass Menagerie, The Winslow Boy, A Time to Kill, Betrayal, The Snow Geese, Twelfth Night/Richard III, Macbeth, Waiting for Godot/No Man's Land, and 700 Sundays.
