TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will bring U.S. audiences their first look a London hit, when it presents the American Premiere of the joyous musical revue The Life of the Party. Directed and co-created by David Babani, the Artistic Director of London's Menier Chocolate Factory, this rollicking musical journey celebrates the songs of Tony Award-nominated composer Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family, Big Fish) who takes the stage as a featured performer, along with a cast of Broadway and West End veterans, bringing to life a hilarious, uplifting, memorable evening that was declared "Sexy, sophisticated, and funny" and awarded five stars by London's Telegraph. The Life of the Party will be presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley August 24-September 18 (press opening: August 27) at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St, Mountain View. The New York Euripides Summer Festival presents the only complete satyr play Cyclops for its 2016 summer season with five, free performances starting July 29 through August 5 This comic dramatization, based on Book IX of Homer's The Odyssey, is the only extant surviving satyr play and depicts Odysseus confronting Polyphemus, one of the cyclopes, on his way back to Ithaca, before escaping from Sicily. Enjoy a fully-staged production of this rarely produced classic, presented by American Thymele Theatre with music by Athan Hilaki, without intermission. Stephen Diacrussi directs this satyric remnant from 425B.C.E. The cast includes Beatrice Ghose, Andrew James Gordon, Patrick J. Leddy, Fenton Li, Peter Mercury, and Tristan Polania.  (more...)

After over 300 performances on Broadway, a sold-out run at the Public Theater, eleven Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, a Pulitzer Prize and countless other honors, HAMILTON creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has said goodbye to the role for which he'll be forever remembered. What comes next? The age of Javilton. Javier Muņoz has been the Hamilton alternate dating back to the musical's early development and debut at the Public Theatre in January 2015, as well as throughout the Broadway engagement. Now he has officially taken over the title role- something he has past experience with. He previously took over the role of Usnavi - again, replacing Miranda - in the latter's Tony-winning Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS.
