The York Theatre Company launches the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with season opener, A World to Win, a new revue with Lyrics & Book by Sheldon Harnick and Music by Jerry Bock, plus David Baker, Larry Hochman, Michel Legrand, Richard Rodgers and Mr. Harnick. Directed by Robert Brink, and with Music Direction by Jeff Saver, the four-member cast features Kerry Conte, Jason Graae, Rhyn McLemore and Aaron Serotsky. Contestants in LA's Next Great Stage Star competition had an exciting second week on Sunday, January 12th. The theme for this round was Breaking New Ground - A Little New Music, and featured songs from some of today's most up and coming musical theatre writers.

On Monday, January 20, multi-platinum pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen will visit ABC's Good Morning America to talk about stepping into the famed glass slippers as she prepares to make her Broadway debut in the title role of CINDERELLA on Broadway. As part of the segment, Ms. Jepsen will give GMA an exclusive behind the scenes look at CINDERELLA, about to begin its 2nd year at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). Jepsen will make her Broadway debut on February 4 along side film and television star Fran Drescher, who begins that date in the role of Cinderella's wicked stepmother Madame.

(UMC) just announced its 2014 season, which will launch on April 5 at 8pm with Unsung Carolyn Leigh, a special evening produced forLincoln Center's American Songbook at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse. Starring Obie Award winner Donna Bullock (Ragtime, A Class Act), Rachel de Benedet(Catch Me if You Can), Drew Gehling (Jersey Boys, On a Clear Day), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde), Drama Desk nominee Jenny Powers (Donnybrook!,Happiness), Megan Sikora (Curtains) and Max von Essen (Evita), the concert, showcasing songs by the Tony- and Grammy-nominated lyricist of Peter Pan and Little Me, is created and directed by Ben West (The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad, Make Mine Manhattan). Starlight Express is musical performed fully on roller skates! This production has been running for over 25 years, touring both the United Kingdom and New Zealand. It now runs in Bochum, Germany at the Starlighthalle Theatre, a space specifically designed to house the unique nature of this show. Happy Birthday, Lin-Manuel Miranda! Miranda is most famous for writing and starring as 'Usnavi' in the Broadway musical In the Heights, which opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2008, and for which he won the Tony Award as composer and lyricist. He also wrote Spanish language dialogue and worked with Stephen Sondheim to translate into Spanish song lyrics for the revival of West Side Story, which opened on Broadway in March 2009. Most recently, Miranda worked on the musical theatre version of Broadway's Bring It On, inspired by the 2000 cheerleader comedy film of the same name.

Broadway composer and lyricist John Bucchino and bookwriter Mads Nielsen's Danish-American romantic musical drama ESAURA, recently conluded a Fall 2013 run at the Fredericia Teater. The plot of the new musical is based on a free adaptation of the 1905 novel by Carl E. Simonsen 'Abraham Fournais' and has parallels to the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet. The musical drama is set during the aftermath of the Battle of Fredericia and tells a fascinating story about human relationships. In short, it is a story with universal appeal played out in a Danish historical setting. Goodspeed Musicals' Board of Trustees announced today that a change in leadership will occur at the theatre after the 2014 season. Michael Price, who has led the organization for 45 years, has decided to retire from the position of Executive Director at the end of 2014 but will remain active with Goodspeed in advisory and fundraising roles through 2016.
