The great Cole Porter's Can- Can, hits the Westchester Broadway Theatre stage this Fall. Written by Caleb Porter and Abe Burrows, the story revolves around 'the lovely Pistache, who owns the only café that features the sexy and provocative Can-Can. She spars with Aristide Forestier, a self-righteous judge, determined to close all Parisian dance halls. The show features the provocativly delightful Can-Can, the high-energy and physically demanding music hall dance which is a hybrid of the Polka and The Quadrille. First danced in circa 1822, it was outlawed for a number of years as immoral and prohibited by the police! How times have changed!'

Ridiculously silly in all the right ways and featuring a comically gifted, star-studded principal cast--headed up by Richard Kind, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rebecca Romijn, Dane Cook, Gary Beach, and Roger Bart--that delivers the goods with infectious gusto, this large-scale revival on this outdoor arena elicits a huge chorus of laughter. Back to re-stage the show on the massive stage of the Hollywood Bowl is Susan Stroman, who won Tony Awards for her direction and choreography of the original Broadway production. What results is a fun, beautifully-mounted production that's about as close to a real Broadway musical show than previous summer shows have attempted at this massive stage in the past.

Bay Street Theatre showed the Hamptons a fantastic party last Saturday, July 21, 2012 at its annual Rock The Dock Summer Benefit Bash. The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour and silent auction, while guests arrived dressed to party on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor. Special guests included Bay Street Board Members Chris Bauer (True Blood) and Broadway, film and television actress Mercedes Ruehl; Tony Award winner and star of the upcoming BIG MAYBELLE: SOUL OF THE BLUES Lillias White, and the show's writer and director Paul Levine, and more. One of the biggest events in Los Angeles this summer is Mel Brooks' multiple Tony Award winning musical THE PRODUCERS in the home stretch of its much anticipated July 27th opening at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. Broadway's smash hit stars Richard Kind as Max Bialystock and Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Leo Bloom. And, Broadwayworld's own Michael Sterling (Los Angeles Correspondent for BWW TV) and Jerry Evans of the JLE Media Group, Inc. were on hand last Friday, July 20 at rehearsal to chat it up with all of the stars of the grandiose production.

The new musical Foreverman, with book, music, and lyrics by Brett M. Boles, will be presented as an official selection of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's (NYMF's) 2012 Next Link Project, beginning performances tonight, July 20 and running through Sunday, July 28, at the PTC Performance Space, 555 West 42 Street (between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues).

In early May, BroadwayWorld reported that Tom Hanks will be heading to Broadway in 2013 in Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY. According to the New York Times, the production will still happen, despite Ephron's recent death. A new production timeline has not yet been announced.

The casting for the Hollywood Bowl's production of THE PRODUCERS is complete with the announcement of Dane Cook - one of the country's most popular comedians - as Franz Liebkind. Cook joins previously announced cast members Richard Kind as Max Bialystock, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Leo Bloom, Roger Bart as Carmen Ghia, Gary Beach as Roger De Bris, and Rebecca Romijn as Ulla.
