The 2013 Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust honored playwrights Annie Baker and Rajiv Joseph at last night's 2013 Steinberg Playwright Awards held at Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The evening also highlighted the work of David Henry Hwang, who received the 2012 Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award, as last year's event was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy. The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust honors playwrights Annie Baker and Rajiv Joseph at the Sixth Annual Steinberg Playwright 'Mimi' Awards tonight, Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York. The 'Mimi' Awards are presented biennially to honor the accomplishments of some of the most gifted up-and-coming American Playwrights and to recognize the promise they hold for the future of American theater.

At the gala 45th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 4, Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 'Good People' received the award for Production-Play in a large tier theatre. Principal Actress Mariann Mayberry was also honored for her role in this David Lindsey-Abaire play, which considers the dangerous consequences of holding on to the past or leaving it behind. William Brown received Best Director of a play for Writers Theatre's production of the French farce 'The Liar', adapted by David Ives.

DTC to Launch DTC Book Club with OEDIPUS EL REY, 1/16

Dallas Theater Center announced today a new program for the 2013-14 season, DTC Book Club hosted by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. DTC Book Club events are scheduled to take place with productions of Oedipus el Rey, The Fortress of Solitude, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure and Les Miserables. A new work by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph looks at how the miraculous recovery of an abducted child impacts not only the family, but the victim. The play, MR. WOLF, is featured in a staged reading at South Coast Repertory on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. This SCR commission is part of the theatre company's NewSCRipts reading series.
