As previously reported, the highly buzzed about musical Ghostlight, by popular up-and-comers Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto, presented an industry reading on Monday, January 13th at Theater Three on West 43rd Street, following two highly-attended backer's auditions on December 2nd at The New 42nd Street Studios. Kevin Lambert (Broadway's Godspell) presented the January 13th reading, which was directed by Realbuto and Martin and featured a starstudded 18 person cast, including Drama League nominee and Great Comet star Phillipa Soo, three time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli, Jennifer Hope Wills, Kimberly Faye Greenberg, Trevor McQueen, and Abigail Ludrof. Alison Holman (Freedom's Song) provided the musical direction.

Drama League Award nominee and Julliard graduate Phillipa Soo, who currently stars as Natasha in the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway hit Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812, and who also appeared as Lexi on Season Two of NBC's 'Smash', will star as Olive Thomas in the upcoming industry reading of the highly buzzed about new musical Ghostlight.

As previously reported, the musical Ghostlight, by Tim Realbuto and Matthew Martin, which had two starry backer's auditions on December 2nd at the The New 42nd Street Studios in NYC, has added a 29- hour industry reading next month due to popular demand. This is one of the first times a new musical has added another presentation nearly a month after its first one. The December 2nd evening was directed by Martin and Realbuto and featured an all-star cast which included 'That's So Raven's' Anneliese van der Pol as Olive Thomas, Three-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello as Billie Burke, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli as Ziegfeld, 'Pippin' star Rachel Bay Jones as Molly Cook, Kimberly Faye Greenberg as Fanny Brice, and Trevor McQueen as Jack Pickford.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, presented 2013 Gimme A Break!, honoring producer Beth Williams, last night at the Asia Society and Museum, 725 Park Avenue at 70th Street. Performers included Carolee Carmelo (Parade, Falsettos), Santino Fontana (Cinderella, Billy Elliot), Jayne Houdyshell (Romeo & Juliet, Follies), Rachel Bay Jones (Pippin, Hello Again), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (The Winslow Boy, Man of La Mancha), and Jessie Mueller (On a Clear Day, Beautiful).

The producers of the Tony Award winning PIPPIN just announced that Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Annie Potts ("Designing Women," God of Carnage) will assume the role of "Berthe" in the production beginning Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh will play her final performance in the role on Sunday, January 19th. PIPPIN is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
PIPPIN Recoups Broadway Investment of $8.5 Million

The producers of the Tony Award winning PIPPIN have announced that the show has officially recouped its $8.5 million capitalization costs as of the Sunday, December 1, 2013 performance. The show also broke the Music Box Theatre house record last week for the highest grossing single performance on the evening of Friday, November 29th with $151,219. The record was then broken again on the evening of Saturday, November 30th with $151,977 gross sales. Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Tony Award winning musical comedy PIPPIN is directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus and features choreography by Tony Award nominee Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse and circus creation by Gypsy Snider of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main (also known as 7 Fingers). The production is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
