Central Florida audiences will have the opportunity to see Hansberry’s masterpiece on the Garden Theatre stage as part of the theatre’s 13th season. Directed by Roberta Emerson, the production will play a limited run March 3 - 14, 2021.  

Due to popular demand, Lookingglass Theatre Company, in collaboration with WBEZ 91.5 Chicago, adds two new dates for the World Premiere audio play of Her Honor Jane Byrne, written and directed by Ensemble Member and Mellon Playwright in Residence J. Nicole Brooks. First heard Thanksgiving weekend to wide acclaim, Her Honor Jane Byrne will air again on Chicago's NPR news station WBEZ 91.5 FM and wbez.org on Sunday, December 27 at 8pm CST and Friday, January 1 at 11am CST.

Houston Grand Opera Board Chairman Allyn Risley announced today that Managing Director Perryn Leech is leaving the organization effective December 31, 2020. He will continue to serve as a consultant during the leadership transition. Leech has been with HGO for nearly 14 years and has been managing director for 9 years.

The Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) 50th Anniversary Celebration - the Illumine Celebration/Celebración de Iluminación - will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh Festival Opera drops a sizzling six-minute web trailer to tease its upcoming Young Artists Program Online Scenes. Called Opera Without Walls (OWOW), these scenes are crafted in a variety of movie and TV styles (film noir, Game of Thrones, Handmaida??s Tale, zombie apocalypse, to name a few) a?" and will be part of a series of exciting short episodes to appear online throughout the fall of 2020.

Pittsburgh Festival Opera, under the artistic direction of acclaimed Mezzo Soprano Marianne Cornetti, got creative and reimagined a season that combines classic arias, innovative interviews and the fresh faces of opera's future performing wildly original works.

At its regularly scheduled board meeting on Thursday, June 4, 2020, City Theatre held a series of elections for its governing board and Honorary Board; and also re-appointed its officers for the 2021 fiscal year which begins July 1.

Pittsburgh Festival Opera has released the details of its 2020 schedule. Productions this season include classic opera, one world premiere, one Pennsylvania premiere and the conclusion of Pittsburgh's Ring Cycle with scenes from Siegfried and Twilight of the Gods in concert. The Festival also presents a wider breadth of programming in different venues to include lectures, a poetry reading, two concerts by its Young Artists Program and festival favorite Daphne Alderson. The Festival runs from July 11 until July 26, 2020.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, present the second show of the Road's 2019-2020 season, a newly revised and re-written production of NOWHERE ON THE BORDER, written by Carlos Lacámara and directed by Stewart J. Zully. NOWHERE ON THE BORDER will preview on Tuesday, January 14; Wednesday, January 15 & Thursday, January 16 at 8pm; will open on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 8pm and run through Sunday, March 8 at the Road Theatre on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Nearly six years after opening on Broadway and 27 years after appearing as a beloved animated Disney film, the national touring cast of the musical ALADDIN soars into the Providence Performing Arts Center. This version of the story contains many callbacks to the original 1992 film, but also adds many new elements, such as new songs, new characters, and even a new spin on the Genie. No matter one's familiarity with the source material, audience goers are in for a flashy and thoroughly entertaining evening, suitable for adults and children alike.

Based on Disney's 1992 Academy Award-winning animated film musical of the same name as well as the Arabic folktale from the One Thousand and One Nights, Aladdin follows an Arabian street urchin who steals food in order to support himself. Meanwhile, Princess Jasmine is feeling hemmed in by her father's desire to find her a royal groom. To win over both Jasmine and the Sultan, Aladdin teams up with a genie from a magic lamp he found to disguise himself as a wealthy prince. Yet, the Sultan's Grand Vizier, Jafar, is plotting to take over the throne.

With the iconic song 'A Whole New World', Aladdin certainly delivered 'the magic' of Disney that took the audience on a mind-blowing journey of 'toe tappin' dance performances and tickled our imagination to believe that we too could embark on a fairy-tale infused 'magic carpet ride'.

Pittsburgh CLO is proud to announce the cast of the world premiere of THE DOUBLE-THREAT TRIO written by Adam Overett February 15, 2019 April 28, 2019 at the CLO Cabaret. THE DOUBLE-THREAT TRIO is the third musical to be given a world premiere from Pittsburgh CLO's inaugural SPARK festival, which developed musicals designed to cultivate the next generation of small-cast shows that will continue on in similar venues around the country. ROCO (River Oaks Chamber Orchestra), immersive theater company Horse Head Theatre Co., and design house Magpies & Peac*cks team up with the Houston Zoo to present PETER AND THE BEAR, an adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev's PETER AND THE WOLF.

After the success of last year's performances of Peter and the Wolf, The Houston Zoo has invited ROCO back to perform a new take on Prokofiev's classic, celebrating the zoo's new bear exhibit and conservation initiatives in partnership with Magpies and Peac*cks and the Horse Head Theatre Company. Featuring costumes from Magpies and Peac*cks and actors from the Horse Head Theatre Company, these concerts offer family fun for all ages and are free with admission to the zoo.
