As BroadwayWorld reported today, Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, Alex Newell ('Glee'), Merle Dandridge ('Greenleaf'), and Quentin Earl Darrington (Cats) will join the cast of the new Broadway production of Once On This Island, which will play the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 W. 50th street, NYC) this fall.

Producers The Shubert Organization and The Nederlander Organization announced today that the first-ever Broadway revival of CATS will play its final performance at 8 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W 52nd Street) after 16 previews and 593 regular performances. Preview performances of CATS began Thursday, July 14, 2016 followed by a Sunday, July 31, 2016 opening night.

On March 9th, 2017, Sing For Your Seniors (SFYS) hosted the latest in its series of Broadway Sessions with cast members from Cats for the LGBT seniors at SAGE Center Midtown. The musical performance, led by SFYS Session Leader Daniel Torres (Broadway: Beautiful, Evita, The Pirate Queen, The Woman in White, Off-Broadway: Altar Boyz, National Tour: Wicked), included songs of the performers' choosing as well as songs from Cats. Just last month, a music workshop was held in NYC. '[It] was absolutely thrilling.' Flaherty told BroadwayWorld. 'In collaboration with director Michael Arden, vocal designer Ann Marie Milazzo and orchestrator Michael Starobin, we explored many exciting new musical concepts for the piece. Lynn [Ahrens] and I look forward to taking these ideas further with our new collaborators in the New Year.'

The New York Post's legendary gossip columnist, Cindy Adams, just made her Broadway debut during the curtain call of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS as Grizabella. She might not be Mamie's understudy, but she was there to promote her eighth annual Blessing of the Animals on December 11, 2016 at Christ Church (524 Park Avenue), which includes a procession of animals to the altar for blessing.
