Annette O'Toole, Jeff McCarthy Lead CAP 21's SOUTHERN COMFORT, 10/6

CAP 21 Theatre Company presents SOUTHERN COMFORT, a new musical by Dan Collins (book and lyrics) and Julianne Wick Davis (music), based on Kate Davis' 2001 Sundance award-winning documentary about transgender friends in rural Georgia. Co-starring Annette O'Toole and Jeff McCarthy, previews begin October 5, prior to its official press opening October 6 at the CAP21 Black Box Theater (18 West 18th Street) in Manhattan. Tom Caruso (ZOMBIE, MIMI LE DUCK) directs.

Artistic Directors Vivienne Benesch and Ethan McSweeny are pleased to announce the four writers at the center of CTC's new play development work in Summer 2011: Kate Fodor will be in residence as the very first recipient of the Chautauqua Play Commission. Her residency will correspond with the New Play Workshop Festival that will feature fully staged readings of plays by Michael Golamco, Michael Mitnick and Molly Smith Metzler.

The newly imagined Broadway production of ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER starring Grammy and Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Harry Connick, Jr. will open on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at The St James Theatre. Previews are set to begin on November 12, 2011. The delightful Tony Award nominated score by Burton Lane (music) and Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) is enhanced by classics from their film scores for On A Clear Day You Can See Forever (1970) and Royal Wedding (1951). With a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, the musical is reconceived and directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer.

Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of COMPLETENESS, a new play by Itamar Moses (The Four of Us, Bach at Leipzig). Directed by Obie Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park at PH, The Four of Us, Occupant, Peter and Jerry), the production will begin previews Friday, August 19 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 13 at 7PM. PTP/NYC, formerly known as The Potomac Theatre Project, in association with Middlebury College, presents '25 on 25', a special 25th Anniversary celebration featuring the work of Middlebury College artists. '25 on 25' takes place on Monday, July 25 at The Atlantic Stage 2, located at 330 West 16th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues in New York City. '25 on 25' begins at 1pm and runs until 11pm, and features 10 hours of readings, presentations and panel discussions of works written, directed and performed by Middlebury artists.
