Visionary director Julie Taymor will curate and host the first National Sawdust+ concert on Friday, November 6 at 7:30pm. MADE IN BROOKLYN, an evening inspired by that artistically fertile corner of New York City, will feature music by Brooklyn-born composers including the great George Gershwin and Oscar-winners Aaron Copland, John Corigliano and Elliot Goldenthal. The concert will feature the world concert premiere of Goldenthal's String Quartet No. 1 'The Stone Cutters' performed by Flux Quartet, the 'Chaconne' from Corigliano's Academy Award-winning score for The Red Violin, performed by Tim Fain & Stephen Gosling, and much more.

San Francisco, August 31, 2015 – Acclaimed Opera Parallèle will present its annual gala benefit Today, October 3, at 6:30 pm, at Marines' Memorial Club in San Francisco featuring an original “Jukebox Opera” entitled Heroes, created by the Company's artistic team and performed by baritone Michael Mayes, who performed the role of Joe DeRocher in OP's 2015 production of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking. The performance will showcase another side of this charismatic artist together with Opera Parallèle's Founder and Artistic Director Nicole Paiement and Creative Director Brian Staufenbiel, who will trace the journey of a hero in arias by Heggie, Bernstein, Adamo, and others. Rising young choreographer Aaron Atkins returns to the Ailey Citigroup Theater with his 17-member company for a performance of eight world premieres and repertory dances by Atkins and company associate director Edgar Peterson, Today, October 3 at 8 PM.

BWW Review: Houston Ballet Dives Into Fall With Their Mixed Repertory

Pianists Paul Barnes and Alexander Djordjevic will celebrate one of the most influential music makers of our time, American composer Philip Glass, with a concert on Sunday, October 4th at 3:00 pm at PianoForte Studios, 1335 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605.

The devastating outcomes of lessons learned from the Holocaust are revealed in a landmark, original ballet coming to the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Ballet Austin - LIGHT/The Holocaust & Humanity Project. Presented by inSIGHT Through Education, in collaboration with the Kravis Center, the dramatic production choreographed and directed by internationally renowned Artistic Director Stephen Mills comes to the Kravis Center for one night, November 7 at 8 pm.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts presents a special event series and artist residency: 'Matt Haimovitz Plays Bach In Concert at Miller Theatre' on Thursday, October 22, 2015, 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, 2015, 8:00 p.m., with spontaneous campus performances on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 and Friday, October 23, 2015.

-This season, the eighteen young professional musicians of Ensemble ACJW continue their two-year fellowship program with concerts at Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, Skidmore College, National Sawdust, and in community venues throughout New York City. In a particular season highlight, Ensemble ACJW leads a residency in Paris in cooperation with The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations from November 15-20 that will consist of workshops at local Paris schools led by the ACJW fellows as well as concerts at Theatre du Chatelet and Studio Bastille. The residency concert at Theatre du Chatelet on November 18 includes a performance of a work written for the group by Meredith Monk, the recent recipient of the United States National Medal of Arts. On November 19 Ensemble ACJW performs works by Boulez, Michael Jarrell, and Phillippe Leroux at Studio Bastille, conducted by Jean-Christophe Vervoitte, horn player with France's noted Ensemble intercontemporain. Ensemble ACJW then travels to Geneva, Switzerland on November 20 for a performance at the Abbaye de Bonmont.

MediaRites' Theatre Diaspora, presents the last play of the 2015 season The Sound of a Voice by noted playwright, David Henry Hwang (best known for M. Butterfly, which received the 1988 Tony Award for Best Play and for Chinglish produced at Portland Center Stage)  on Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m at PCS. Playwright David Henry Hwang will join the audience for a Skype talk at the October 17th  2pm performance.

The acclaimed Days and Nights Festival, founded and curated by Philip Glass, returns for its fifth edition this weekend, September 24-27, with four days of performances in Big|Brave Sur and Monterey, CA.

The Aviva Players will begin its 40th season on October 16 with 'Songs, Piano Rags & Chamber Music by Women Composers, including the Piano Trio by Fanny Mendelssohn,' the first installment of a three-part concert series at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave.  The concert will include piano rags by May Frances Aufderheide, Irene Giblin and Adeline Shepard; songs by Mira J. Spektor, and 'Vocal Duets' and 'The Piano Trio' by Fanny Mendelssohn.  The evening is presented in conjunction with Downtown Music Productions.
