Museum of the Moving Image to Host Terence Davies Retrospective, 5/7-22

Over the last four decades, the British filmmaker Terence Davies has produced a deeply personal body of work that explores the longing inspired by movie fantasy and the intermingling of memory and history. Coinciding with the U.S. theatrical release of his latest film, Sunset Song, based on the classic Scottish novel by Lewis Grassic Gibbons, about a farming family caught in the aftermath of World War I, Museum of the Moving Image will present a complete retrospective, to date, of the films of Terence Davies from May 7 through 22, 2016. Davies will appear in person at the Museum on two occasions: on May 8 with The Long Day Closes and on May 10 with a preview screening of Sunset Song, accompanied by the film's star Agyness Deyn.

Cinemax to Begin Production on New Drama QUARRY in March

Production will begin March 30 on the eight-episode CINEMAX drama series QUARRY, it was announced by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Based on the novels of Max Allan Collins, the show will be directed and executive produced by Greg Yaitanes (CINEMAX's Emmy-winning “Banshee”; Emmy winner for directing “House, M.D.”), along with executive producer Steve Golin (HBO's Emmy-nominated “True Detective”). QUARRY is created and executive produced by Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller (“Rectify”).

Multitalented British actress and director, best known for portraying the Agatha Christie detective Miss Marple, Geraldine McEwan, has died at age 82. The BAFTA Award-winner's family says she died on January 30, due to complications from a stroke suffered in October.

GAME OF THRONES' Harry Lloyd will return to the stage this October in a modern adaptation of NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND, a novella by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Roundabout Theatre Company has announced additional casting for The Real Thing, starring Ewan McGregor as 'Henry,' Maggie Gyllenhaal as 'Annie,' Cynthia Nixon as 'Charlotte' and Josh Hamilton as 'Max.' Tom Stoppard's Tony Award-winning play The Real Thing, directed by Sam Gold begins preview performances on Thursday, October 2, 2014 and opens officially on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42ndStreet). This is a limited engagement. The cast also includes Alex Breaux as 'Brodie' and Madeline Weinstein as 'Debbie.' Final casting to be announced.
