Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon producer Jo Schuman Silver announced today that tickets for the show's Holiday Extravaganza will go on sale Monday, September 8, at 10 a.m. Beach Blanket Babylon welcomes the season with special performances beginning Wednesday, November 19, 2014 and continues through New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31st. Packed with hilarious spoofs of pop culture & political characters, the annual tradition also features a chorus line of tap dancing Christmas trees, special parodies of traditional Christmas carols and the gigantic Yuletide hat. The full lineup has been announced for the 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre festival running from May 12-June 8 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street) upstairs & downstairs theaters. With 40 full productions, over 10 free staged readings, music & film festivals and more, one thing that makes Planet Connections unique is that each show partners with a charity and some of the ways they offer support are soliciting donations at shows, holding special benefit performances, fundraisers and/or talkbacks after performances with charity representatives. The music festival will take place at 8pm on May 21, 22 & June 5 at R Bar (218 Bowery).

One person shows are a notoriously hard sell, unlike Tupperware's famous airtight bowls. I doubt anyone ever thought of combining the two with the notable exception of Kris Andersson, the writer and star of Dixie's Tupperware Party, now playing at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Though at times the touring show may not be as sturdy as the nearly indestructible Tupperware products, overall it's a laugh riot.
