From the best of jazz and most celebrated classical musicians to the biggest voices from the New York stages, The Smith Center brings three diverse series to Las Vegas from October 2013 through May 2014. The three series bring patrons on a journey deep into the heart of American music to see the masters perform right before their eyes or visit the New York stage without leaving Las Vegas.

Broadway Records announced today a launch concert to celebrate the release of 'When I Grow Up: Broadway's Next Generation - Live at 54 BELOW'. The concert will take place at 54 BELOW on July 29th at 7:00 pm. The recording will be released digitally on Friday, July 26th and on CD onJuly, 30, 2013. The CD, which will also be available at the concert on July 29th, is now available for pre-order at http://amzn.com/B00BYF7VCU.

Happy Birthday Arthur Laurents! Laurents' first play, Home of the Brave, opened on Broadway in 1945, followed by many others. He wrote his first musical, West Side Story, in 1957, followed by Gypsy and others. His first screenplay was The Snake Pit in 1948, followed by others including Rope, Anastasia, The Way We Were and The Turning Point. His own play, Invitation to a March in 1960, was the first of several he directed. I Can Get It for You Wholesale in 1961 was the first musical he directed, followed by others including La Cage aux Folles and Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, then Tyne Daly and most recently, Patti LuPone. He pased away in May 2011.

Local actor William Cooper Howell is currently performing the role of Che in EVITA (music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Tim Rice) at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City. He was happy to answer questions from BroadwayWorld about his involvement in the production, as well as other theatre experiences.

The New York Philharmonic will present a staged production of Stephen Sondheim's Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, March 5-8, 2014. Bass-baritone Bryn Terfel will star as the title character. Sweeney Todd will be conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and produced the Philharmonic's productions of Sondheim's Company in 2011, SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert! in 2010, and Sweeney Todd in 2000. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

If you are alive and well in Houston, you know that audiences were able to pick from three different productions of Stephen Sondheim's infamous SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF STREET FLEET last weekend. Two of those productions even share the same opening and closing dates. Luckily for Houston audiences, each version of SWEENEY TODD being produced is distinctly different and unique, giving ample reason for local audiences to venture out and experience each one. Pasadena's Stage Door, Inc.'s SWEENY TODD adds the Steampunk aesthetic to the classic musical, giving the production an intriguing facelift that doesn't interfere in any way with the storytelling.

Jay Binder, C.S.A of Binder Casting who has cast more than 50 Broadway shows, will be joining Broadway Theatre Project's 2013 season once again this year as a guest artist.

Audra McDonald, the five-time Tony Award winner and recent star of Porgy and Bess on Broadway and TV's Private Practice, makes her Provincetown debut with four shows only on July 21 and 22 at 5pm and 7pm. Sirius/XM radio star Seth Rudetsky, whom theNew York Times just dubbed "The Mayor of Broadway," hosts again at the piano.

This July and August, 54 BELOW, the performance venue in the grand tradition of New York City nightlife, presents an exciting lineup of the brightest talent from Broadway and beyond. In addition at 54 Below is the WBGO Jazz Series on Tuesday nights, as well as Late Night at 54 Below: 'Backstage' with Susie Mosher, and vocal competition 'The Callback.' Dallas Theater Center presents the world premiere of Fly, a new musical based on J.M. Barrie's novel, Peter Pan. Three-time Tony Award-winning producer Jeffrey Seller (Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights) makes his directorial debut with this production.

On July 29, Dick Cavett will lead areading of In the Car with Blossom and Len - A Benefit for National Alzheimer's Association. Throughout their formative years, Holly and Fern's parents, Blossom and Len, were wildly unpredictable, endearingly neurotic, and often blatantly dysfunctional. Now that they are in their eighties, they are facing the biggest emotional and financial crisis of their lives. This is a story of what can happen in our own homes. With modern medicine allowing us to live longer, we may recognize ourselves, our own families or friends - whether through one of the characters, the caregiving situation -or the black cloud of fear that one day we forget where we put the keys - and tomorrow we'll forget who we are. The play's unique brand of comedy has bite, truth and lasting resonance.

Joanna Gleason won the Tony Award for her leading role of the Baker's Wife in Into The Woods, by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. She launches this season's Broadway @ The Art House season in Provincetown tonight, June 28 and the 29th with An Evening with Joanna Gleason. Each performance will combine the East Coast premiere of a the hilarious and moving one act play Bloom, written for her by Emmy and Golden Globe winning writer Michael Patrick King (creator of Sex and The City & Two Broke Girls) with a second act of songs featuring special guests Well-Strung, and hosted by pianist/host Seth Rudetsky.
