WaterTower Theatre will extend its run of The Diary of Anne Frank by one performance. An additional show has been added Sunday, January 29th at 7 pm.

Park Square Theatre presents its annual production of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, based on one of the 20th Century's most inspiring and enduring narratives. The story comes to life in three public performances March 1 & 3 at 7:30 p.m., and March 31 at 1 p.m. at Park Square Theatre, 20 W. Seventh Place, Saint Paul. Daytime performances for students run February 27 through May 18, 2012.

This is the 12th annual production of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK at Open Stage and it is sponsored by Capital BlueCross.

In a co-production with Indiana Repertory Theatre, Pioneer Theatre Company will produce The Diary of Anne Frank, March 18 through April 2, 2011.

Katy Visual & Performing Art Center's Encore Players gave it their all in their final performance of The Diary of Anne Frank on Sunday afternoon. The play, directed by Tina Morille, along with Assistant Director Jordan Morille, was, in Morille's words 'about real people, during a real time in history, being forced to undergo real feelings and raw emotion in a literal and metaphorical cramped space.'

The Spellbound Development Company will present a reading of a new play THE IDEALIST by Jennifer Strome, directed by Lee Sankowich, at TheTimesCenter (242 West 41st Street) Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at 7PM.

The most touching, delicately nuanced and beautifully realized work in The Public Theater's premiere production of Compulsion is, quite honestly, a wooden performance.   Rinne Groff's fictionalized tale of the Broadway dramatization of Anne Frank's diary begins with a life-sized marionette depicting the young girl, pencil in hand, innocently writing down thoughts that she most likely never dreamed would be so immortalized.  As a voice quotes how the adolescent feels, 'in spite of everything,' Matt Acheson's creation, manuevered by Emily DeCola, Daniel Fay and Eric Wright, moves with remarkably understated detail, her frozen face and stiff body nevertheless communicating heartbreaking sincerity through Anne Frank's words.  Unfortunately the rest of the evening seems freakishly overplayed by comparison.

Nashville actors displayed an astonishing range in 2010, playing some of the most coveted roles in theater with imagination and creativity and exhibiting new stage personas for characters making their initial debuts in new, original works. It was a memorable year, to say the least, and Nashville men stepped up to the plate with vigor and conviction, showing greater promise for the new season now under way in 2011.
