As previously reported, Stephen Sondheim and David Ives have teamed up on a new musical, which is currently in early phases of composition. According to the Village Voice, the show, titled All Together Now, is based on 'a small moment' from Ives' All in the Timing and that it will go backwards in time, similar to Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Allong. There is no word yet on which part of All in the Timing (which is a series of one-act plays) the show will be based.

Earlier this week, BWW reported that Richard Kind revealed on Kevin Pollak's Chat Show that he was on board for the project. Now, our LA sources are buzzing that Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson might play 'Leo Bloom' after recently tweeting: 'I wanna be a producer'. No official casting announcement has been made.

Reported first by Variety, he revealed last night while being honored with the Monte Cristo Award at Bridgewaters-South Street Seaport that starring alongside him will be five-time Tony Winner Angela Lansbury making her return to the stage after most recently appearing as Madame Armfeldt in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

According to a report on Billboard.com, the Portland-based rock group, The Decemberists, are considering the possibility of writing a Broadway musical. Says vocalist/guitarist Colin Meloy: 'I grew up doing theater, so in theory, I would love to write a musical. I don't know if I have the stuff -- I always end up just writing little pop songs that stand a better chance on a record than on stage...It happens that the director Michael Mayer, who directed Green Day's 'American Idiot' musical on Broadway, is the guy that got me going about doing a musical...We're still talking and there's potential for a musical down the line, for sure.'

A rep for A Little Night Music star Bernadette Peters has revealed to the New York Times that Bernadette Peters and Trevor Nunn are hoping to continue their collaboration, possibly in the form of a Follies revival on Broadway. Nunn is possibly going to bring a revival of the Sondheim classic to the West End in 2011, a production which could transfer to Broadway thereafter.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, producers Jeffrey Seller and Kevin McCollum, resurrected the infamous flop musical CARRIE for an Equity reading that had a notoriously short 3 night, 5 performance run on Broadway in 1988. The reading took place on November 20, 2009. The hope is to bring 'Carrie' and her supernatural powers back to the Broadway stage.

American playwright Katori Hall's The Mountaintop was named Best Play at the 2010 Olivier Awards in London. Marking the first time a female African American playwright has received the honor in the Olivier Awards' 34-year history, Ms. Hall's play was nominated alongside such new works as Jerusalem, Enron and Red.
